Hacking Just bought a dual NAND Xbox 360 and need some help

When I am in retail mode, I can use my 2 wireless controllers and my wired just fine. However, when I switch to the RGH side, my wired controller just spin the lights and it never connects and my wireless controllers turn themselves off after 5 mins or so. I checked my NAND for bad blocks and it is fine. No errors or bad blocks. The controllers are all Microsoft brand, not 3rd party. The person I bought it from is being awesome and trying to figure this out as well but I thought I would go ahead and post this and see what the community thought and see if there were any suggestions. Resync them.
Other then that, I've never come across that issue.

You might want to "rehack" your NAND.

Just dump the retail NAND again and hack it with JRunner.

Thanks for the advice but re-syncing doesn't help. Re-hacking the NAND doesn't help either.

It really is peculiar then.
I was thinking about something drastic like replacing the RF board but that wouldn't be an issue.
I'm out of ideas otherwise.

What chip was used for the dual nand? My DemoN chip had sync issues when I had the wire used to switch nands withe the sync button. I removed it and the issues stopped.

Here is a photo of the slim demon. The brown wire is the sync wire. Do you have a slim or phat?

It's a slim and to be honest, I have no idea what chips was used.just know that if I hold down the sync button it will flash once for rgh and 2 times for retail.

Ok that does mean that there is some kind of wiring used to switch nands from the sync button. I would see if you could possibly remove that wire and it may fix your issues.

Sorry for the late reply but if I remove the wire what issues would I run into? Would I still be able to switch between my retail and rgh? My only concern with doing this is that I am absolutely horrible when it comes to soldering and if this doesn't fix my issue, I won't be able to repair it.

If it's a demon chip in your slim, generally you would know. They come with switch button boards that go on the back of the console for slims and they light up when the extra NAND is active. The sync wire is stupid to hook up if you have an actual TX Demon on there. I've heard of a few people having issues because of it. I've also personally had issues with it, so I only hook up the switch board when I do installs. They look slick to me on the console, like a NOS button in a car : )

Edit: if it's not a demon, it may very well be a 10$ add on from China you can get on Ebay(seriously, search "dual NAND and see) in which case I believe the sync button IS the only switching mechanism between them. So you won't want to cut that out.

I know the demon had the option to switch nands from freestyle dash with their demon nandswitcher. http://www.realmodscene.com/index.php?/topic/1478-demon-nandswitcher-10/#entry11314

This would allow for you to remove your sync wire but you would then need to have the kiosk wire hooked up.

If you don't have a demon then I thing you are right that the only way to switch nands is with the sync button.

I believe that it is an ACE chip. I really want the retail side of it so I am just going to leave it alone and see what the person who sold it to me comes up with. He does this all the time and this is apparently the first time anything like this has happened. I appreciate the input though!

Sorry to bring up this thread again but I'm still fighting this issue and not getting anywhere. At this point, I just want to pull the sync wire and see if it fixes the controller issue. Can anyone direct me to where this would be on an ace360 v3 chip? I know that demon is the preferred chip but I have to make due with what I have right now. I appreciate any guidance on this!

Just out of curiosity, what dash are you on?

Edit: the Ace chip doesn't have a sync wire. It would be on the extra NAND. I wouldn't dc it if I were you, as it appears to be the way you switch retail/RGH

Thank you for the reply. I don't mind losing that. I can solder it back on I just want to see if that is in fact what is causing my controller issue.

If you look a few posts up, there's a pic with the sync point identified. It's the brown wire. Just desolder the point on the board, as I believe it's the same no matter which dual nand device you're using.

Keep us posted on your progress. My gut feeling is that this has to do with either the extra NAND or it's firmware, or the SMC(System Mgmt Controller) file on your rgh side, which is in the NAND Firmware.
