I am currently interviewing a creator of homebros for gamecube. You guys got any questions?
For gamecube?
Did they have the same piracy boom as the 3ds scene did? And if so, how did the homebrew devs handle it?
^ yes thats my question

The DS profile exploit was Ichfly's, according to 3dbrew. Derrek also has some photos of it as a WIP on his flickr.

Gateway came first, July(?) 2013. Then naehrwert released his RE of Gateway's exploit in December https://github.com/naehrwert/p3ds/tree/df8f52a8c22b7f4758e1a47b2ca712d12be60bc6 followed shortly by megazig and fiercewaffle' RAM dumper https://gbatemp.net/threads/merry-christmas-have-some-ram-dumping.359697/ Then came the other homebrews built from p3ds.

From what I heard around the time of the leak, this isn't what happened. Some binaries were shared over dropbox, and one link to them got out. It was passed privately around some users (like st4rk, who also had leaked from him the code for his own effort to reverse the CFW, and notably ernilos who was the person govanify stole it from) before being leaked publicly. Also that CFW is also derrek and profi200's work as well, only fair that they be credited too, leak or no. :P

Brahma was forked from shinyquagsire23's 'bootstrap' code, which was built from his own research and from yifanlu's documentation of Gateway's <=9.2 exploits. Pasta CFW was brahma with the signature check patch offsets taken from a private pastebin.

rxTools was (I'm pretty sure) developed from roxas's own independent research into Gateway's exploits. Was closed source and didn't enable signature check patches originally. He also released the 'template Launcher.dat' method for loading ARM9 homebrew on firmwares up to 9.2, and was the original basis for utilities like Decrypt9. AHP_person posted a patch for rxTools that did enable signature chech bypassing, and a little while later, roxas open sourced rxTools.
At the same time, mid-kid and b1l1s were making CakesFW based mostly on reversing Gateway/rxTools and partly from the leaked 4.x CFW.

Thanks for your contribute. As I said I reported a rough log of the fact as I remember them. Some thing was not correct because I was more interested in technical aspects than in gossips. But for who wants to reconstruct the whole story, everything is here on gbatemp.

can you pm the most detailed italian explanation you can give? (since we are both italian) (also, can i have a link to your tetris clone? just curiosu)

For an accurate reconstruction use my notes to ask to other people with more accurate informations (like Vappy :grog:).

For my first 3ds homebrew, google for Te3ds. It's on gbatemp too.

True but it cost money to do that. I am broke atm :D So what are all Nintendo consoles that have hombrew

I have

GBA
DS
Wii
3DS

Am I missing anything? I'll probably go into development background from the side of nintendo until release then I will talk about the developer side from the hacker. After that I'll go into the cat and mouse chase for each console.

Gamecube, N64 SNES and NES also have homebrew.

Gamecube recently had 3 new exploits released.
@FIX94 has ported the Twilight hack to the GCN.
He also created the Wind waker hack and PokeLoad (Colosseum and XD)
Some other fella at gc-forever has created Home bros (SSBM hack)

Smea?!
You're... emailing.. SMEA?!
*ahem*
How do you feel about the people who use *hax for piracy?
And... what made you first get into hacking? Did you ever think you would end up being a famous hacker?
Also, What was the first thing you made? (Homebrew, game or exploit)

I got my Dad a firestick for Xmas and showed him those 3rd party sites on Kodi, he loves it, all he watches anymore. He said he has got 3 letters from AT&T already about pirating, but he says f them, let them shut my internet off (He wants out of his AT&T contract anyways)
