As long as the mod itself doesn't fail (which is unlikely as long as you or the person you hire does a good job on it, and you don't abuse your console), you're immune to bricks and can upgrade and downgrade sysNAND at will as long as you have backups made (and, if you're getting a hardmod, you're more than likely going to have at least one). You also gain the side-benefit of being able to downgrade 10.4-10.6's NATIVE_FIRM from the one from 10.3, meaning you can then further downgrade to 9.2 and get CFW.
