Hardware Replacing contact pads didn’t fix my face buttons. What else should I try?

Replaced my contact pads for my ABXY buttons on my N3DS XL and it made them feel worse. They went from feeling way too pushed in and not clicky at all, to difficult to press down. The rest of the buttons (Start, select, and dpad) all feel very pushed in and not super clicky. What else would I have to try? Is it a problem with the buttons themselves and not the contact pads?

The dpad buttons and start and select buttons aren't supposed to be really clicky, also you might want to check that the plastic piece that all the buttons come out of isn't warped
