dope.... my n3ds has become a perfect portable nintendo gaming + emulators system! now if only some1 could make a n64 emulator :P
Everyone has been asking if there can be a N64 Core/Emu. There are differences of opinion on if the 3DS or if the N3DS can handle it. One thought is that it would have to be made from the ground up. Meaning freshly made, not ported from 1 System to the 3DS.

Yea, that's fair. Hope springs eternal. :-P

It's possible there will be a downgrade from 10.5 with no hardmod in the future, so don't update if and when 10.6/11.0 comes out if you can stand the wait. On the other hand though, I wouldn't downgrade purely for PS1 on N3DS, it's still not running full speed in most games I would guess (40+ FPS, but not 60 everywhere). Only do it if you plan on taking advantage of CFW.

I still see people working on exploits so we can run backups, so the scene is very much alive friend.

That's what the real scene is like, sorry to say. Homebrew development is a whole other monster. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Yeah, you are correct about that the real scene is about piracy. In the 3DS scene I would guess 90-95 % is about piracy.

But there are few misfits, like me, that thinks homebrew are the exclusive and exciting in the scene. The reason: well, piracy isn't actually adding anything new to the 3DS. Besides free games. Homebrew on the other hand puts additional content to the 3DS library. That has actually a value of it's own. Like RetroArch :)

I haven't tried the latest retroarch builds, but previous builds had error i.e. no sound or crash on 2nd or 3rd game load for picodrive for example, has this been fixed in newer versions?

Has anyone managed to get sonic cd audio fixed as well? i.e. title screen doesn't start sonic boom song. i.e "you can run, you can hide, you can reach the other side of the rainbow...when you use your mind, sonic boom, sonic boom, sonic boom....da,da,da,da,da"

I have no interest in CFW or commercial games piracy. It's pretty much all about the Retroarch goodness for me, and I'd be saddened if having to downgrade firmware became a requirement for new updated hacks and improvements.

And I haven't seen anything to indicate that access to dynarec is a true gamechanger for RA, what with PSX and 32X emulation still more possible than playable.

Anyway, I hope to see integer scaling working with Mednafen PC Engine and Picodrive at some point. Having these cores look as crisp as the Genesis GX one would be incredible. I still marvel at being able to play those CD libraries.

The PicoDrive freezing issue still exists as of the 1.3.0 stable version. Not sure about any nightly versions afterwards, but seeing as to how that bug has been present since the PicoDrive core was ported over, I'm just gonna assume it's still there.

Are you using a ISO/MP3 image for Sonic CD? I believe neither PicoDrive or Genesis Plus support ISO/MP3 rips, which might be the reason why the intro song isn't playing. BIN/CUE images work, however, so give those a try.

What's the latest .cia version of the PSX emulator that doesn't crash and force restart the 3DS when loading a game.

I can't find a clear answer, and the latest Stable build is just .3dsx, I have a N3DS on 9.2 and I want to take advantage of that.

I guess I totally missed the "cia" folder in the latest Stable release. Does anyone know if the latest Stable PSX .cia is a lot slower than the nightly PSX .cia? (can't get it to load a game w/o crashing)

Most Retroarch use is piracy as well, unless you think most people only play ROMs of games they own.

Well, I was being pretty sarcastic, hence the Lenny face. I actually agree, I love homebrew myself. My only problem with HB is that in recent years, hb developers have become very snotty and love their high horses in general, looking down on everyone who isn't them and trying to police people by adding stupid shit like AP measures in their software instead of... You know... making it work and not crash and burn!

So glad the RA devs (at least on 3ds, I've heard some real shit about squarepusher) aren't like that.

I wasn't making a judgement - I just personally have no interest in any upcoming / existing 3DS titles I don't already have.

As far as my tastes go - aside from the Sega 3D remasters - the 3DS had long been on life support ..until Retroarch came along, that is.

Emunand, CFW, downgrading, needing to be 100% future proof against Nintendo's attempts to kill system exploits.. all that stuff just isn't relevant to me. My only fear is of users like me become increasingly irrelevant to the (emulator) developers making this all happen.

CFW isn't just about piracy, you know. There are plenty of advantages to such a setup. Having homebrew applications installed straight onto the 3DS system menu rather than having to load up the Homebrew Launcher is convenient, setting up an EmuNAND gives you a level of security against Nintendo updates that might break homebrew and means you can stay on the latest firmware even if Nintendo patch things.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. I contemplated doing the downgrade but decided not to seeing as my machines are permanently offline anyway and CIA core improvements seem pretty minimal.

I do regret my choice of words though. I don't think chat about piracy belongs in here and didn't mean to infer or imply that 9.2 is code for pirate. I don't think that at all.

Thanks, I'm using wave with cue, don't have bin. Do you have sonic cd working with proper audio? Just want to confirm it is possible or if we have to wait on an update?

Just my opinion; but I've played them all and I think the 3DS is the best video game system with the best games! Its a truly unique offering because the glasses free 3D brings something new to the table and breaths new life into old classics. I really don't agree with your life support comment at all :) Especially nowadays where if you want to game-on-the-go freemium is your only option...yuck!

I hope retroarch 3ds brings 3d to old classics, that should be the focus here for development. Otherwise an Android tablet w gamepad is a much better choice.

I actually have a similar issue with Sonic CD not playing some audio tracks despite some others working fine.

I didn't report it because I assumed it was user error on my part.

Thanks, I really hope we get Sonic 3 +Sonic & Knuckles redone as a sega classic in 3D. Oh how I would enjoy that:)

Quick question. In any of the Cores for Retroarch, when I close my 3DS and open it later, the sound gets all crackly and crappy, as if the games are running slow (But they're not). Is there a fix for this? Even if it's not a perm. one?

I'm using the latest stable builds.
