Hi guys, long time reader first time writer.

I have a question about my n3ds hard-mod.

first off i'm an electrical engineer, this hard-mod was very basic and i'm very confident in my soldering skills and have checked all my points(with my multimeter). I've used small gauge wire. of less then 3 inch length. soldered to dat0 & cmd on the back side of motherboard, and alt clk and ground on the top side of motherboard. I did accidentally squish my home button flex cable rendering it useless for a day(but have since repaired the flex cable and have it working again).
..
Anyway onto my question. I have my hard-mod setup, and confirmed i do get blue screen when plugged into an sd reader and power it up, and unplugged n3ds works as normal. but i am having no luck getting it to detect on my pc's. IE i plug in my hard-mods sd card adapter to n3ds and to sd card reader and although i boot to blue screen i can't get windows to detect that i've plugged anything in. I have tried several sd card readers, and 3 different systems (i havnt tried a nix system yet, but could if need be and dd the nand).

Is it possible that all my sd card readers are non-compatible(they are all a couple years old usb2), if so is there a brand/model currently available you can suggest. or does the problem lie elsewhere. total length of wiring is less then 6 inches, inside ds wiring is smaller(133mhz ide cable) than sd card adapter(slightly larger).

The plan is i have a 9.4 launch n3ds red. never updated. i'de like to downgrade it to 9.2 but will not attempt until i get a good copy of my nand for backup purposes. any help/suggestion would be appreciated. I'de take a pick of my mod install job but i have it all back together and plugging in the 2 zif connectors on the under side of the motherboard is a pain.

P.S. i have an o3ds(retro nes) and 2ds (red) neither with hard-mod, but have backed up my nand's from both consoles via gateway.(and have confirmed they are good dumps that flash back to their respective console no prob). I could hard-mod my o3ds for testing purposes if need be.

by USB 3.0 card readers its work but in USB 2.0 Card Readers he's picky.. try to borrow if you dont wanna buy.

I've been working on it and found this thread I'm searching my local retailers for a compatible reader. I do have a Lexar usb 3 reader i have tried with no success. Thanks for the suggestion though. I'm patient and have a modded o3ds anyway so i'll downgrade when i have a good working nand dump.

Had the same exact issue. I had tried around 10 different SD card readers with no success. Solved it by using Anker 3.0 USB card reader :) Hope it helps!
