I recently got a CECHG-01(September 2007) from a family member, because the Bluray drive no longer works. I'd like to downgrade it to a firmware that supports CFW, but I don't have the equipment for soldering, so i thought it might be cheaper to have someone in the US downgrade it for me.

That's a NAND based console, I don't touch them. Too time consuming.

Check craigslist.

I live in the middle of nowhere, so craigslist isnt a great option. I might ask on PS3hax forum.

Indianamods.com is 100% legit. They did mine and 2 friends' PS3s for us.
They also deal in the business of selling console id for ps3, we banned the shit out of the UNTRUSTWORTHY ASSES over at ps3hax. Id have to go check the logs, but there was more than that to the ban. Either way, they are shady.

Hmm.... First I have heard. They did a great job downgrading for my friends and I. My console ID still works fine online after 2 years.

Alright, well anyways they did a great job for me and apparently didn't sell my console ID to anyone. I'm sure if they did, it would be banned by now. Either way, that's my suggestion based on my good experience and 2 other good experiences that I know. All of the other drama or whatever is irrelevant from my perspective.
