Hacking Converting NDS to DSIware to CIA?

Pretty sure that you can When I downloaded my stuff with FunkyCIA, my DSiWare was stored as .CIA files.

Just did a simple text hack on DSiWare and injected it, getting a white screen. This leads me to believe only "proper" and "legit" DSiWare in the form of .NDS can be injected

Let's hope DSiHybrids/DSi exclusive game cards work.

Was a long time ago, if I remember correctly there is a tool which converts nds to cia. This works with legit DSiWare in nds form. After making a small change (text) in the nds rom and converting it to cia it does not work. But I'm not entirely sure about it anymore, maybe someone else has found a way.

the closest to this i could think of is making something with kernelhax (as a cia presumably) that makes you able to select a nds from the sdcard and emulate it as a normal cartrifge, but again that might be impossible and it would require months or maybe even years to work

You're lucky, because I found a compiled .exe
I don't know where I found it, but the source code is not there, so I can't recompile it for Linux (iirc I recompiled it from source, because I edited it, so it always makes a DSIWare .cia).
Also, I hope it's not illegal, it just makes a .cia out of a .nds/.srl file.

Edit: make_cia was made by 3DSGuy, so I assume it's illegal to share it here

I wondered if it is somehow possible to convert Nintendo DS (.NDS) files to .CIA. If so, how do we do it? And if not, I'm interested in the technical details (how is DSIware different from the NDS retail game format?).

I suspect it's not possible, cause, from what I see, DSIware games are rather simple when compared to retail NDS games. Also, (to my knowledge) there are no retail games also available as DSIware. Apart from DSIware I see no way (yet) to get .NDS files installed.

and some leak repot is that Pokemon Ranger will be next...

The Wii U has had DS games for many months. It emulates them, the 3DS does not. So it's of little relevance to the 3DS scene unfortunately.

Nintendo have never provided retail DS games on the eShop, and is unlikely to start doing so. It's simply too late in the device's lifetime.

so it means if wii u will be hackable, nds game injection to wii u vc is possible, but id rather use nds flashcard (if theres no nds injection on 3ds) rather than injecting nds rom to home console which is not portable...

The Wii U is already hacked, Wii U DS/GBA VC injection is already possible and I agree, better to play portable games on a portable than on the Wii U.

so theres an official retail ds game that ported to 3ds... hope to see a nds to cia injection in future...
