Hate to break it to you, but some people do things simply because they can (either as a proof of concept, or out of sheer boredom). Also there's a good number of people out there that aren't particularly fond of supporting flash cart companies, so that actually adds more fuel to the fire. You're right that we're more likely to see some sort of altered way of simply running the games natively though, as opposed to outright emulation.

Cheap DS Flashcards are not a reason to not make an DS Backup Loader, It's about advanges on the 3DS Scene and not only piracy.

I also wish there was an nds loader that can be installed as cia or something that launches .nds files, I'm just not optimistic that it will ever be accomplished, although the poster above is right when he says people do things just because they can. There is little hope but there is hope none the less.
