Yup same problem, also from the UK (not sure if it has anything to do with it), was on 5.5.0, put TubeHax into DNS settings, rebooted router and Wii U and 5.5.1 started downloading. I'll just leave it disconnected I guess, sucks I can't play online though.
OpenDNS has never failed me. You're putting a lot of faith in complete strangers by using Tubehax as your only protection, whereas OpenDNS is operated by Cisco. The only caveat is that if you have a dynamic IP address, you need to keep their updater app running, preferably on a system that's up 24/7.
Actually when i'm not at home and i'm on a vacation i always turn of the electricty. There's no reason at all to leave it on and it costs money even if you're not using anything. That's a big caveat. Most people don't have desktop computers running anymore. Even if I were to leave my laptop on all day, it's a laptop. Sometimes, it leaves the house. Do you know how I got on 5.4.0? It updated while I was away on vacation. What happens when your IP address changes while you are on vacation? You brought your laptop, but not your Wii U with you. It could update. You probably wouldn't even know the IP address changed until you got home and saw the updated Wii U. You'd end up having to keep the Wii U unplugged all the time.

Or you could, idk, disable standby procedures. That's a big caveat. Most people don't have desktop computers running anymore. Even if I were to leave my laptop on all day, it's a laptop. Don't have a freezer but still even if you do why leave everything plugged in ? There's no reason at all, it just consumes money.fridge and freezers need power ?
I knew it ;PIgnore this I had another connection set up on "Connection 4", didn't see it as you have to scroll down. Now have TubeHax setup on Connection 1 and no other connections. Working.
I knew it ;P
But still, it never end to surprise me how effective, clever is Wii U to find a way to update itself, you have to give that to Nintendo lol, you give it the slightest chances and boom! updated.
Yeah, internet providers use custom DNS, here and in another countries. But when you set up another DNS instead of the default one, it overrides the provider one.Hi!
Here in Spain some internet providers has DNS proxy althought you configure tubehax Wii u can download updates ... So you must to call the provider for disable dns proxy ... A way to test is made tethering with tour mobile... Share your mobile Internet conection and configure in Wii u with tubehax
Cheers,
Blady
How do you do that, exactly?Yeah, internet providers use custom DNS, here and in another countries. But when you set up another DNS instead of the default one, it overrides the provider one.
You can set up manually your DNSs in every OS, even on the WiiU.How do you do that, exactly?
