Got everything working. 10.3 -> 9.2 o3DSXL I've got an emuNAND running with FBI installed, I've installed Shovel Knight and LoZ OOT. I forgot to make a backup of my emuNAND, should I make one now or somehow uninstall the CIA's and then make one? And then should I update to 10.3 on the emuNAND? Also wondering if it's possible to install and run .cia's from other regions? If so, how? Thanks.
you can make up the emuNAND back up now, you don't have to uninstall the CIA.
You can update to 10.3 if you want, but make up before you do that.

I've set up rxtools and coldbooting, etc on a 9.2 downgraded n3ds.
How would I go about updating my emunand to 9.5? I've followed a guide using sysUpdater multiple times though I kept resulting in a brick which I was able to fix via emuNAND injection.
I don't believe I ever got a response to this. As far as my notifications let me know anyway.

Hello! Just made an account and I'd like to ask for help running GBA cias. I used this guide https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-agb_firm-signature-patcher-gba-rom-converter.390313/ I didn't mess anything up and didn't delete the wrong file by accident so everything works fine but GBA games remain unplayable. Also, in FBI, at first I accidently downloaded two GBA cias to NAND instead of sd. One produced a black square with no title in the emunand home menu and the other did nothing. Should I be concerned? I don't know how to remove them from my NAND. My emunand is in 10.3 and NANDS are unlinked.

Why don't you just use a homebrew emulator or something. There's cia launchers for some and everything...

I've got a "Hyrule Gold" New 3DS XL, on it's original firmware: 9.9.0-26U. It has a TN screen, when I wanted an IPS...

I would swap it for another one, but these Limited Edition systems are sold out now.

I could try swapping it via Nintendo, but I'd probably get a 10.4 FW system from them, so that's out...

If I keep it, what should I do immediately before 10.4 comes out? I don't have much free time because of work, so the minimum time-sensitive steps are what I'm looking for now.

From what I've read, I just need to update to 10.3 while it's still up? Anyone recommend a specific guide for upgrading then downgrading?

Original 3DS systems and New 3DS systems alike don't need to bother with this if they're at or below 9.2 firmware, right?

first i want to say you should use bbm to install gba.cia games it works a lot better
(Download BigBlueMenu from the Digiex link here)
also about the black squares/bad installs. use bbm to delete the two gba .cia files and the box will be gone

you would need to downgrade before 10.4 comes out it likely will fix these new entrypoints as they were made public before they were even created you should do so soon because for all we know an update can drop any day now and with that
here is a guide to downgrade Simple Guide to Downgrading your 3DS (read the whole first post . . . twice)
also you dont need to be on 10.3 to downgrade but the reason to do it before 10.4 is at the moment the most common downgrade failure leaves the system "semi-bricked" leaving you with the option to recover via recovery mode update this will get you to 10.3 where you can try to downgrade again . . . but if 10.4 comes out first then when you attempt to recover from the "semi-brick" you will get the "likely unhackable 10.4" and be stuck there . . . with that said the sooner you downgrade the better

I have rxtools set up on auto/coldboot. Not sure how to get back with homebrewlauncher, using sliderhax autoboots rxTools, bringing me into emuNAND.

Deleting the cias in my cia game folder did not work but I didn't expect it to; Are the files in the Program section? There are files with numbers like 02046 CTR-G-HAM1 as names that I really don't want to screw around with.

i was not refering to the cia file but the title (installed game) itself you can use this list 3DS Releases to identify the game by its title id unless it was a custom gba cia then its not in there. . . you can reinject your emunand backup over your current emunand using Emunand Tool

I couldn't figure out how to use that program, but I remembered I had a backup of my sd card before I screwed things up, so I deleted my other stuff and replaced it. I'll have to start over in trying to get GBA games to work but now I'm worry free of those black glitch squares. Wish I could just play sacred stones. Thanks so much for your help!

I did something very very stupid. I saw someone else was having my problem of updating the emunand and they said---
I think it's just quicker if I don't explain myself.
I have ctrbootmanger launch on coldboot. it's set to automatically launch rxtools after 3 seconds. When this happens, it relaunches menuhax all over again like an infinite loop except it crashes the 2nd time.
I presume this is something easily fixed because instead of ctrbootmanager launching rxtools, it's launching menuhax again. If it's not, etc... i don't know what to do.

Please help.
Edit:
I should probably add more details:
I installed menuhax 2.0.
Reason being someone claimed it helped them update their n3ds emunand to 9.5.
The rxtools logo shows up but then it goes back to menuhax.

So my N3DS have been successfully downgraded to a 9.2 sysnand & 9.5 emunamd w/ rxTools. I know legit cia's can be installed and used on the sysnand, but why install them on sysnand rather than on emunand? I mean, is there anything wrong with installing them on the emu vs sys? Can I just boot into the emunand, start FBI, and simply install the legit cia without it touching the sysnand?

If you don't mind me asking, how did you update your emuNAND to 9.5? Every guide i've been following seems to cause me problems.

you can install them in emunand
the reason people want to install "legit"cia on sysnand is if you did that and accidentally updated your system they would remain and remain playable even without cfw

"What is a legit cia?" (and other noob CIA questions ANSWERED ...

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

  • Jayro @ Jayro:
The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.
