Hacking 3DS NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

Not to break the record for the biggest noob on the site, but what flashcard should I get? I'm using the New 3DS XL, but all I want is emulators for older systems (NES, SNES, GB, etc). I'm also on a budget, so something around $30 and under. I've seen so many different recommendations, I don't know where to go. Please Help!

P.S.- If someone has already said something like this, sorry. I wasn't willing to dig through 660+ posts.

It's Sky3DS+ the only realistic choice at the moment to load backups on a Nintendo 3DS XL at 9.9.0? Or there's an incoming CFW that will allow this?

I have a couple of questions. I want to use flashcarts to play DS roms (not 3DS roms) on my New 3DS XL with the latest version. All I find is used carts for some games and they are very expensive so no thanks. Do I need to do anything besides buying a R4i SDHC 3DS RTS and putting the game on it? Do I need to mess with the DS in any way? And lastly, will I be able to transfer Pokemon using my other N3DSXL from rom to rom, rom to legit, and rom to Pokebank/Poke Transporter?

The version of rxTools you're using might need you to hold L instead of R, they changed it on one of the releases.

That's weird, it's giving me a black screen on the bottom one and the rxTools logo still shows on the top screen. Oh well, I think I'll wipe everything clean and start again.

Thanks for your Tutorial. If I got that right the only advantage is that I can boot cartridge games up to 9.5 again. Or is there anything I missed?

It'll allow you to play both game carts and roms/cias up to 9.5.

Uh, yeah, that's all.

Ninjhax 1 doesn't work with Ironfall, you can launch the boot.3dsx, but it won't have the permissions it needs to run most things.

I believe some of the patches for Smash Bros require 9.3. Using emuNAND you'll be able to play Smash Bros. and all of its DLC no problem.

For the O3DS rxTools is the best CFW. For the N3DS both rxTools and ReiNAND are fine.

I'm using CN instead of browserhax to get into HBL.

Here's the problem, I can go into PastaCFW and then FBI through HBL. It even installs FBI.cia successfully. However, when I go back to Sysnand, it shows an empty tile for half a second and then disappears. What's going on?

EDIT: It actually worked. It appeared as a gift.

You need to boot back into Pasta again, otherwise FBI won't show up correctly.

You can set up CFW on a 9.2 3DS, which allows you to install unsigned cias (games), play modified games and install homebrew/emulators. You can play homebrew and emulators without a 9.2 3DS via the Homebrew Launcher, but installable versions of these will allow them to run at better speeds.

Everything I've read says that you can only go up to firmware 9.5 on a New 3DS emuNAND. If that's true, then doesn't that mess up amiibo support when running titles under emuNAND? I thought amiibo support was introduced in 9.6.

New3DS comes with Amiibo support out of the box so everything's good.

Hey guys,

I'm currently running 9.0 (Emunand and sysnand), and gateway 3.4.1, and I'm wondering how to go about updating these things.

So, in essence, my questions are:

1. Can gateway be updated as simply as copying the new launcher.dat to the 3ds sd card, boot menu, update like first time setup, done? If not, how would I go about updating it?

2. How would I go about updating the emunand to 9.5, and are there any advantages to updating right now?
(I know that a 10.3 hack is coming and I'd assume that means 10.3 emunand support)
I also know about 3dsnus and sysupdater, but a brief guide would be helpful just to be safe

3. Of my two 3DSes (is that the proper plural? ), one had the mset exploit installed before unlinking nands, and is therefore downgraded on the emunand as well. Would updating that 3DS emunand, with the "wrong" mset, be a bad idea? What are the risks? Or will an update just update the mset as well?

Oh, okay - that patch only added support for old 3DS to use amiibo read/write device. I have one of those, but old 3DS support 10.3 so it should be fine. Thanks!

I apologize for stupid noobiness again! I haven't done anything on a 3DS short of install HBL.

The CFW is an EmuNAND, right? So installing this lets you run emulators at higher speed and let's you run 3DS ROMs, right?

Is it possible to run unsigned CIAs from SysNAND?

I read that if I format my sysnand I can link the account again. Is this possible?

I would probably link it to the emuNAND.
