Ok so my son has a 6.2 2DS that he finally found. is RXtools good enough or is there something more fool proof? He is 7 and I'm sure he can understand the concept of holding L when he turns it on to boot the firmware, but I don't want him bricking his 2DS somehow or messing with some kind of tool he shouldn't. I will be using my GW to install anything required to update his console if needed.

Setup MenuHax on Type2 and EmuNand will autoboot. Also create three fake internet connections in Sysnand and use TubeHax DNS in EmuNand and nothing can happen.

Or just parental control the internet connections and have no connections... which I have done.

He just wants to play pokemon and stuff.

Well then setup MenuHax on Type2. That means you will have to hold a specific button combination to get to SysNand, otherwise it will boot the file called boot.3dsx which you can swap out with CtrBootManager and then setup to start rxTools right away. Switch on, be in EmuNAND.

Sounds good. This can use a emunand made via GW launcher right? I figured I could just make him a emunand that way since I have all the files and everything. Got him a 32gb SD card already for xmas.

I don't see a point. His 3DS has nothing on it as it stands. There is no reason not to just use the GW launcher I already have in my PC. He only played DS games on his 2DS prior.

Doesn't matter anyway. No one really needs gateway anymore just for Emunand setup when you don't have an actual gateway and can just use Emunand9 now.

They were for DSi and DSi XL. The original DS and DS Lite didn't have DSi Ware. DSi Ware was purchased from the eShop and Stored in the Nand.
