A friend of mine forgot to NVRAM Install with Gateway + CN on New3DS so when updating with sysUpdater it updated his sysNAND to 9.5. What options does he have now? He has backed up his nand.
Thanks.

Hardmod and write NAND back. No other options. Requires fairly decent soldering skills.

Alright thank you. He doesn't have the skills to hardmod, is there somebody that can do it for him at a reasonable price here?

Alright I'll tell my friend to wait.

On a side note, is there a free way to run .cia on Sky on a New3DS? Thank you.

Someone posted a thread saying there would be CFW released for higher firmwares on the 12th. I am 99.99% sure the user was trolling but maybe wait till after the 12th before buying anything just in case they weren't.

ahhh our troll? with no evidences ? hahahahah 2 days and we have the answer :D...and im swear he will be banned as he said if that card dun exist

Thank you for the suggestions everybody, but out of desperation he bought, again, another New3DS 9.0. This time I'd like to follow him step by step to be sure he doesn't fuck up again, so if some of you could be so kind to take the time and review the steps I am going to make him do, it would be incredibly appreciated. I really don't want to take any chances with him.

1) Format his 16GB Nintendo SD card to exFAT so he can place his cia's bigger than 4GB

2) Format his 8GB Gateway SD card to FAT32

3) In the root of his Nintendo 16GB SD he'll place:
• LAUNCHER.dat (3.4.1, he doesn't care about the cheats of 3.5)
• the standard 3DS folders
• "updates" folder containing 9.5.0-23E cia files to update emuNAND (european console)
• ntr.bin
• "cia" folder containing bluecardfix.cia, mset_eur.cia, sysUpdater.cia and BootNTR.cia

4) In the root of his Gateway 8GB SD he'll place:
• devmenu.3ds

5) Boot CN and do the QR Code to boot GW menu

6) NVRAM Install immediately (this is where he fucked up last time, missing it)

7) Backup system NAND, turn off and put it somewhere safe, then delete it from his SD

8) Boot CN, boot GW menu, insert red card and boot emuNAND

9) Open devmenu.3ds and install sysUpdater.cia

10) Open sysUpdater and install 9.5 updates (now that he has NVRAM installed they shouldn't update his sysNAND, right?), reboot the console, CN, QRCode, and go to GW menu

11) In GW menu, insert red card, move cursor to Boot Gateway Mode, hold B and press A, then X to boot in sysNAND GW mode

12) In sysNAND GW mode, open devmenu.3ds

13) Install mset_eur.cia and bluecardfix.cia (does the order matter?) then reboot the console

14) Remove SD and Gateway card, and format the console in sysNAND, then proceed with the language, region, 3D settings etc.

15) Start GW menu from DS Profile and boot emuNAND

16) In emuNAND, open devmenu.3ds and install BootNTR.cia and his .cia game

17) Play the goddamn backup

Is everything going to work fine if I make him take these steps? Am I missing something? Thank you for everybody who will take the time. Also, does there need to be a specific devmenu to install the mset, or is any devmenu/bigbluemenu fine?

You already messed up no wonder you ruined the other 3DS it had nothing to do with NVRAM you ran sysupdater while in Sysnand and never setup or booted into Emunand

You need to use Format emunand option in GW Launcher. Backup the contents of your SD card before doing so.

Well fuck, anyway I didn't follow him the first time, he did it by himself. I'm just very rusty since I did everything on my console quite a while ago, hence all the questions.

You need to use Format emunand option in GW Launcher. Backup the contents of your SD card before doing so.

Where would you place this step in the list I made? The first time he boots GW menu with CN? Before backing up his system NAND or immediately after? Thank you.

It doesn't really matter as long as you do it when in GW menu before really doing anything involving installing or uninstalling stuff.

Ok, so the first time he boots GW menu with CN I'll tell him to backup his NAND, turn off, store the file, reboot GW menu with CN, format emuNAND, turn off, replace all the files that have been deleted, reboot GW menu with CN and then proceed from point 8), correct? I'll also completely remove the NVRAM part, right?

Thanks.
