Transfer save from retail cart to CIA using CFW!

I will not explain how to install CFW, just how to do this.

  1. Make sure you have CFW
  2. Install the Homebrew Launcher CIA from Yellows8
  3. Download the Homebrew starter kit from smealum
  4. Install CTRBoot manager
  5. Rename smeas HB launcher to boot_hb.3dsx
  6. Put that in your SD card
  7. Download svdt and put it in the 3ds folder
  8. Run your preferred NAND with sig checks
  9. Install the CIA
  10. Load into CTRBoot Manager (from the HB cia)
  11. Load HomeBrewMenu
  12. Run svdt
  13. Profit:grog:

Well, I am pretty sure that does not work with retail carts. Plus, this method does not use a Nintendo made app so no illegal activity.

wtf...
u are wrong.... sdf is a powerful devkit tool:)

and if u really want to do in legit way, why not using the transfer tool:). Go grab one from eshop

lol thread.

> Insert cart
> run SaveDataFiler CIA
> extract save from cart with SDF
> import save to CIA of the same title as cart

...or OPs method, which is extremely convoluted.
he said using sdf is not legit way... lmao

Well, you know, at least I don't feel like using a Nintendo licensed tool to back up saves. Just download them illegally if you feel like it.
Use SVDT to backup saves.
It isn't that simple. And I read that SDF doesn't work with retail carts.

@Ericjwg Can you please use proper grammar? I can hardly read it after processing all the shit in you posts anyway.

First of all... It is that simple. I used it before non-Gateway CFW on N3DS was a thing.
Secondly, SDF does indeed work with retail carts. So I stand corrected.

I mean on emuNAND. It is easy to do it on sysNAND but the CIA is the only thing that works on CFW.

Well, thanks for at least being respectful and using proper grammar (@Ericjwg Not pointing fingers)
SDF works fine for me on emunand.

SaveDataFiler on my cfw o3ds, SVDT on my non-cfw n3dsxl.

...and I'm intrigued why the legitimacy of the save tool counts for anything when it's being used to manipulate save data for cia's (ie. pirated software)?

What the fuck do you mean "...so...?"? Saves don't transfer from .3ds to .CIA
Dude, 'retail cart to cia' = legit software to pirated software. It's what you named the thread.
If you want legit cart save transfer to legit download software, just use the legit transfer tool. No cfw required.
