The English names are accurate for what they are on ps2 (i have my ps2 on rn for comparison) as for the other names i think the direct english translations for those might be the Xenogears item namesOn a side note, i went with the English localization for names, like
Aquagist -> Med Kit
Rosegist -> Ether Pack
Zetagist -> Revive
Which one do you think it's better?
i remember when the files from the zohar server was alive in discord, that there was a group that said that they were working on it. to bad that server is gone. most translation efforts are likely going to pied piper though, since that's the latest "hot" thing with the xenosaga series

is there anyway people can join it or know the name? everywhere seems to be a dead end when searching for active progress on a project like this except for this very thread, so it's why many assumed the translation project was canned.Just got informed about this post, made an account here specifically to comment on it.
The group is actually still alive - they moved to a separate server. I've been one of the main ones working on it at the moment. It might seem like the project is dead, but rest assured it is still alive and is actually much farther along than you might think. I don't think I can say much more than that, though.
I did want to reach out to Blackstar97. I'm always eager to meet new people eager to work on this game. I don't know if I can make DMs with an account this new, so if you could DM me that would be swag.
I'm glad you asked this. The group is called Vector Translations. At current moment they don't have much of a public presence, but I'm expecting that to change soon. They have a private Discord server, but I am more than happy to put people in contact with the other members if they're interested in assisting with any step of the process of making the hack. At present we do need some translators, but other skills like graphic and hacking are also very welcome.is there anyway people can join it or know the name? everywhere seems to be a dead end when searching for active progress on a project like this except for this very thread, so it's why many assumed the translation project was canned.

i see, that makes sense and with how long it's been i genuinely wasn't sure what had happened so alot of this was just a mystery to me, though i appreciate the transparency but as you said you probably can't say much about the project therefore I'll leave it there.I'm glad you asked this. Can you send us the discord invite link for the server?, we're willing to see how this translation has progressed, and how it was madeI'm glad you asked this. The group is called Vector Translations. Like Skankindead said, this is a private server. So sharing an invitation link is not possible.Can you send us the discord invite link for the server?, we're willing to see how this translation has progressed, and how it was made
Can I get looped into the server possibly bad well?I'm glad you asked this. The group is called Vector Translations. Can we go without using aDisclaimer: i don't speak japanese, I'm not a native english speaker and i don't know anyone willing to put time and effort into this. Hence, the entire translation process will be based on AI. What I've learned so far is also based on AI.
Hi all,
after a bit of trial and error, text, can be extracted and imported correcly.
The only limitation is byte length, as in the EVC files, that can't be changed.
Some text, like email, tech, and others, works between BDY, HED and BIN that allow length changes.
Because of that, some text in game may appear shortened, some dots, commas etc can be mssing.
As per disclaimer, I'm not a native speaker and my english id far from perfect, so any feedback will be appreciated.
Thanks to @blueboy92 for providing the DS script, which is far more useful than anticipated.
As I said before, if a native or high level japanese speaker wants to help, please DM me.
I'll take a break from the project but wanted to release something to get feedback and hopefully help.
What's translated so far?
1st Chapter - Ubung
Mails (One mail notification should be still in Japanese but the content it's in english)
Weapons
Techs
Items
Tutorials.
Lore elemets like Glossary, Plugins and description are missing.
Graphic content, like in-game menu, or bubble names,
can't currently be translated and it's honestly the last thing I would work on.
I'm not sure everything it's translated/working because in extraction, the script might break something because of different byte terminator/starter. So, the game might freeze, have missing translations etc.. if you see something please post it.
Download Chapter 1 patch (Sendspace)
The patch can be applied with xdelta
CrystalTile2 - hex editing
ripgrep(rg) - to find specific strings and locate which file they are in
Tinke - to extract/replace specific files inside the rom
Chatgpt first, then moved to Claude for learning, scripting and translating.
