Hacking Bought a O3DS XL off of Ebay..

Hello! I have just bought an O3DS XL from Ebay that has the firmware: ver 4.2.0-9U on it.

I am wondering which flashcart would be best to buy, since, I have never bought a flashcart that can play 3DS games on it before. The only flashcarts I've have had is a R4I Gold and a DSTWO.

I was thinking about getting a gateway or a DSTWO Plus, but, I don't see much information on the DSTWO Plus yet.

What should I do with the 3DS before buying a flashcart, just to be safe and make sure nothing goes wrong?

you can get a gateway card. by the way did you order the 3ds for more or less thatn a "new" old 3ds xl costs, and was it used?

You can install rxTools, it's free:

You'll be able to play 3DS games, GBA and DSiware games with rxTools.

Then you can install some emulators and play NES, SNES, Gameboy and Gameboy color games through emulators installed in emunand.

You could finally buy a cheap $9.99 flashcard for DS games.

First, you would back up your NAND, install rxTools, emunand, and a cia manager if you decide to go this way.

Once you get it all up and running you can manually update to 9.2 to use themehax and be able to coldboot rxTools.

Or you can stay in 4.2 and use the mset exploit too.

But remember to do one thing at the time, don't try to look everything up at once and learn everything in the same 20 minutes or you'll end upconfusing yourself more than needed.

Get the Gateway, DSTWO+ is basically a clone and you will get more support with Gateway.Nothing exactly will go wrong if you follow a tutorial carefully, and you don't really need to set it up before hand. I'd also get CFW because you can also run CIA's (run 3DS games without a flashcart, disadvantages being 300 game limit and taking a while to install).

I bought it for 125$ USD with free shipping, came with a new charger and a 16GB SD card. So, it looked like a good deal.

i'd say that is a good deal. the reason i was asking is because all old 3ds/xl models come with lower than 9.2 firmware which can very easily be downgraded to 4.5
by the way i would wait a little longer about buying a gateway card, because the supercard dstwo plus is coming out, and that will have a gateway emulator, so it will work just like gateway, even with the same firmware. it also has gba and snes emulation built in. and the dstwo+ is just one card, instead of two

That is if bought new in a store, you never know when you buy from e-bay or such sites, they could aswell be on 10.2
