Meaning you have each game as a home menu entry that launches into retroarch booting that game? o.O
Kinda. Each SMDH launches individual .3dsx emulators which launch directly into the associated ROM without any menus. So there's one SMDH and .3dsx per ROM.

@swaggon No, you can't currently do that in RetroArch. Also, people will discuss things separate from what you'd like them to discuss, so you should learn to deal with that, too.
I was just saying that people should actually give an answer to a question before giving reasons as to why the question is stupid. Thanks though, would editing the font color to black be possible?

This sounds interesting. I'd like to see this in action. Would also be nice if this could be done with CIAs

You mean like if someone had said something like this?
@swaggon Why would you want to disable the text but keep the screen running? That's just going to sap your battery. You can go into Settings > Logging and turn Logging Verbosity OFF to reduce the amount of text, but I'm not aware of a way (or a reason) to display a blank screen.
You got an answer to your question a page ago, then we started discussing the reason someone might want this functionality. If it's something you hope to see added to RetroArch in the future, it will probably help to justify adding this behavior with some reasoning, so discussing it served to give you an opportunity to explain why you feel it should be added.

Similarly, in your initial posts it wasn't clear at all that you still wanted the framerate to display, nor that you were using RetroArch in an unexpected way which somehow prevents you accessing the menu. Discussing your situation helped other users to understand your particular goals and needs (all of this taking place after you had received your answer).

Now that everyone understands what you want and why, you can hope that the devs see that and feel you have offered a compelling enough reason to add the functionality.

Thanks, I must have overlooked the answer, which isn't surprising seeing as the post began with a question as to why someone would want that.

using RetroArch in an unexpected way which somehow prevents you accessing the menu.

I can use the RetroArch menu just fine, so if there's a setting to disable the text there, accessing it is no problem.

Is it normal that Retroarch still freezes or create audio-visual bugs when using Sleep Mode? I'm on N3DS, fw 10.1 and hack 2.5. Sleep mode works fine in the homebrew channel and I'm pretty sure I have 2.5 correctly installed as I can enter the eShop through HANS.
Sleep mode seems to work well if activated during gameplay. Problem occurs like you described when sleep mode is activated within RetroArch menu.

Testing a handful of non-CPS-1/2/Neo Geo ROMs on daxtsu's FBA core build under YouTube on a New 3DS with 9.9, the following all work:
  • bublbobl (Bubble Bobble, 60FPS)
  • flicky (Flicky, 60FPS)
  • pang (Pang, 60FPS)
  • spang (Super Pang, 60FPS)
Basically seems to be functioning very well outside of performance on more advanced titles. I wasn't expecting this at all.
Thanks for testing these! Great taste in games.

PS: I have a Flicky arcade cab & blog: www.flicky1984.com

Reactions: Vague Rant
Anyone know if MAME in RetroArch supports samples or artwork? e.g. Without samples there is no sound in Space Invaders and without artwork the game is monochrome.

Also be keen to know if high score support is possible. Some early versions of MAME required a hiscore.dat file to make it work.

@rygar Re: samples, in theory the MAME core should support them, in practice it might or might not. I was trying to figure out where MAME 2003 expects samples with some help from Radius, but although we identified what seemed to be the correct location, they didn't work loaded from there. So it's kind of a "nobody knows" situation.

The FBA core should support samples, at least, placed in a directory named "samples" under the ROM directory.

CatSFC works a lot better with *hax 2.5 on o3DS though the sound is still laggy and the game is not completely at 100%

I think this would be amazing. I would love to have all my SNES games shown as icons on the homescreen rather than launching the emulator and browsing a text list. It's certainly not a priority function but it's something I would prefer aesthetically.

Each individual instance of the cia emu required for each individual rom would require a unique title id... not impossible to create, but highly unlikely.
