So I've been getting the error 001-0502 in Triforce Heroes since yesterday, and this morning I tried and it is still the same.
I can access the 3DS browser and other online stuff just fine, it's just the online play that I can't seem to access now.

I've been able to play online just fine since this past Saturday, Sunday and Monday, it was only until yesterday (Tuesday) that this error started happening.

I use GW with N3DS in 9.0, the ROM has been patched using GW ROM Patcher to use a header and the ROM file has been changed to 3DZ.

The only thing I did before this was import a modified save file of the game to add Friendly Tokens.
(Damnit Nintendo, I just want to play, I don't have friends :P)

Anyone can tell me what this error is and how to fix this?

What I THINK is happening is that when nintendo is sending information to and from your 3ds's, it is sending information to a specific port. when you have both running at the same time the port in your router is being used and it isn't recognizing that the information is trying to be sent to a certain IP

I KNOW that I had the exact same error code with my 2ds by itself. This is probably the problem that most people will come here for.

What is happening there is that your router doesn't have nintendo's ports set to allow and is blocking them. That is why you can access many other things on your 3ds or 2ds. What you have to do is either add nintendo's neccesary ports to the allowed list or simply turn off the firewall within the router.

List of ports here: https://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds/firewall.jsp.

I was able to fix the problem, recreate at will, and fix it at will, so I can say with great certainty that this was the solution for my problem.

Now this is rather... odd.

I arrived home yesterday and I tried to connect to the game.
It now was able to connect without any change to settings or the internet at all.

The error apparently was some kind of difficulty connecting to the server.
I played for like 3-4 hours and then it happened again.

Damn error. :P

Get "config.cia" or "config.csu" and set the EULA read status to FF.FF. We can't link to it here since it's a tool from the SDK.
