Again, that was only one possible exploit. Who's to say there won't be signiture patching for <9.9 out of nowhere like the Pastebin that fathered pasta?

And if yellows, smea, etc have an arm9 exploit you can be sure they won't share it. But that's not to say it can't be leaked. Again like pasta.

I mean, you do what you want. Updating only limits possibilities. I've personally learned, as a rule, not to update and it's always served me well.

That's true, but unlikely. You would stay on old firmware indefinitely in the very unlikely event a kernel exploit is ever released that works on your specific firmware but not on the newest firmware? Anyone researching kernel exploits is most likely going to be doing so on the newest firmware, and there hasn't been a single thing hinting at there being a kernel exploit on any firmware 9.5 or above. Given the current state of things, staying on old firmware if you're already on 9.5 or above doesn't make much sense. If you're on 9.3 or 9.4 it makes a little more sense though.

Not really, Ninjhax works just as good on the latest firmware. So if that's what you're using. Update.

tbh i updated and themehax and tubehax work fine for me.

Since I updated to the 10.whatever. The save manager thing I had ain't working anymore. Not sure why and ain't really messed with it since. Just know there is no more Animal Crossing editing till I figure it out.

not always, but in the 3ds scene I would. Devs in this scene are spread out and work independently, which means you never know what will be released, when, and for what fw/device. Another issue is the amount of time it takes for things to be released. It took two+ years for the first hints of running unsigned code, and then it was limited to 4.x. Unlike other game companies you don't need an update to use online features with games. The only feasible purpose for updating is eshop access, which becomes irrelevant when you have signiture patching. As far as we know, some devs may already have the same access on 9.5-9.9 as we do on 9.2 and lower, and it just may have not been leaked. Which I have seen happen as I said before with pasta. It just makes more sense to me to wait it out. But then again it comes back to priorities.

Maybe these 'is it safe' threads should be responded to with the question of what the op intends to do.

The only thing that happened with Pasta was that someone leaked the memory addresses needed for signature check patching, we already knew about the kernel exploit long before that however and there were already public kernel exploits.

TO OP: If you care about kernel hacks at all, don't update. That goes for any firmware. Although any kernel hacks released now should work on 10.1. If you only care about what you have now, feel free to update.

I'm 99% certain that if a 10.0 and under Kernel is ever found, a way to downgrade to 10.0 and below from 10.1 with be out in 2 weeks tops.
But the chances of any Kernel being patched in 10.1 is EXTREMELY low.

I'm aware. What I'm saying is that before that thread was made we didn't even know there was a possibility for a new exploit for 9.9. So we don't know what else was patched between 9.x and 10.x. devs may have shit they havent shared yet. it is still always safer to maintain the lowest exploitable firm.

If there is an exploit that we don't know about above 9.2, then it is 90% sure not patched in the latest version
