ROM Hack can i decompile a Nintendo 3ds applet?

i want to decompile a 3ds applet, edit it then reinstall it as a cia.
can we do that yet? i mean i know we can can download if from 3DNUS but in its current form can i do anything with it?
perhaps letting it convert into a cia then disassembling it?

Why would you? Pretty much everything is open source.

He means that there is no reason to decompile something which is open source, since you can just make the changes you want to the original source code and recompile. I'm assuming, though, that you want to decompile something for which the source code is not available.

That doesn't help if you want to modify a specific piece of software for which the source code is unavailable.

A system app? As long as it can be downloaded from 3DNUS, you can create a cia file, make it a SD app, change the icon, or hex edit it. That's how the MicroSD Management CIA was made.

i....dont even know how to convert a .cia back to .3ds hehehe.

i have only seen how to convert from 3ds->cia

theres this tool {3DS To CIA Converter v4.1}. im testing now but it says could not read exheadder file!
