Hacking Moving Retail 6.x+ saves to 4.x backups?

I have retail saves of (for example) Ocarina of Time that I played on a 6.0+ firmware. Recently, thanks to the Ultra Gateway firmware, I have been able to downgrade to 4.4 and use the gateway to play backup version of my games. But now, my 3DS cant recognize my retail cart save. And I do realize that's how it works, since the saving system changed after 6.0 or something. So, long story short, are either of these possible:

6.x+ retail cart save --> retail carrt on 4.4 fw
6.x+ retail cart save --> gateway backup rom on 4.4 fw

Does what I am asking make sense?

Why go to 4.x? I thought it didn't have any advantages anymore. 9.2 is all you need

Backup your 4.X nand, restore your old backup, backup your saves with rxtools and SaveDataFiler, then restore your 4.X nand and your saves.

Gateway doesn't support downgraded mset on old3ds.

I downgraded my system to 4.4 so I can run the DS profile exploit. My emuNAND is 9.2. I am sorry if that wasnt clear.

1.Upgrade again to above 7.x sysnand
2.Backup the retail cart saves using savedatafiler
3.Downgrade the sysnand to 4.x
4.Restore the saves using the 4.x sysnand.
5. Profit.

Oh I see. Download a firmware update pack and update with sysupdater
