There's still a lot of this that I don't understand, but is there any hope (through any means, such as downgrading or creating an emuNAND of a firmware version in the right range) of getting a 9.8 2DS to possibly be able to use the Browser exploit? My brother has one, and he wants to use it for one of his games, but he can't use my system because I have to update it in order to make his game playable on it, and I'm not going to update my own 3DS XL for him.

If your own 3DS XL is 9.2 or below then you can do it for him

Edit: as in, do the exploit for him on your own 3ds, but you can't do the browser exploit on his 2DS with any known method.

Since it bricked while I was trying to update the system that's what I told them. I said I went to update the system software and when it rebooted I was stuck at a dark black screen. I just didn't say HOW I did the update. They took it back as defective.

My local Gamestop managers would ask me to contact Nintendo for manufacturer warranty repair in this case. Unless the problem is "real" manufacturing defective like screen, sound,... they just refuse to return/exchange.

Not yet. OP is working on it.

There's nothing steveice can do for FBI on 9.3+ unless someone releases an exploit that will allow the app to access the required services. At best he might be able to fix it up for Ninjhax 2 on < 9.2 but that's it.

FBI on Ninjhax 2.0 currently is not possible as I don't have the services needed or a kernel exploit available to acquire them.

How sad. As a matter of fact I bricked 2 O3DS systems trying to update them to 9.0 and both times GameStop let me exchange them for another one.

I don't think you can without turning the system off first.

That generally means it can't access the AM service. FBI won't work via Ninjhax 2.0 or Ninjhax in most emuNANDs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you are using Ninjhax 2.0.

Not even Pasta CFW working in 2.0. Not even on systems running 9.2 or below on Ninjhax 2.0. A legit cia installer shouldn't be too off from what we have; we could be getting one soon. (SOON = a REASONABLE amount of time, not instantly.)

Alrighty. I probably should look up if the homebrew I try to install is even outdated or not. Excuse my ignorance, and thanks for the help.

I see you have a N3DS, so if you have 9.0.0, 9.1.0, or 9.2.0, you can install 1.1b and use FBI and Pasta CFW.

None of these errors make any since at all. I currently get install failed! errors from the same source files that installed a few days ago before getting a new card. I hear people say things like you need something to pass signature check, well I even installed ReiNAND and ran FBI through that and I get the same errors. I am getting errors on so called legit CIas like Super Mario 3D as well old favs like Kid Icarus.

Someone messaged me the problem, although it hasn't happened to me so I can't say if it is really the case:

The person tried installing a DLC .cia, but FBI said that it was already installed and gave the option to overwrite. The person says that he is sure that he never installed the DLC before, so I'm wondering if it's a bug due to how the Unique ID of a game is the same as its DLC and patches.
