No one wanted them at that price because they're just an inferior Gateway clone. Why buy a clone when you can get the original for the same price?
It doesn't help that they completely dropped support for the cart shortly after release whereas GW is still going strong.

if the card works on 8.x it will work on 9.8.. nintendo stopped blocking DS cards at 7.x IIRC
but i heard lately people complaining about other type of cards being slow or freezing...
