Hello! This is my first time ever getting a Flash Card, and this one was cheap and had quite a good amount of pros under it's wing. I am getting this mainly because My family is in a tight money situation and my little brother has a Dsi that I gave him but barely any games to play. I bought this in hope that it would help us out a bit. I want to know if this is a reliable R4 card and that it works for DS Lite, DSi and most recent 3DS firmware (example 9.8) I don't mind if it's not supported on 3DS anymore, but I'd still like to know if this is a worth while card. Thank you!

Questions:

1: Is this supported on every 3DS firmware?
2: Is it a trusty card? Any problems?
3: What are "Kernel/Wood updates"?

I wouldn't go so far as to say "reliable", r4isdhc.com cards aren't the greatest, and tend to drop software support after a little while for a newer card. Luckily the one kernel should play pretty much any DS games at this point, no patching needed. At least I would hope.

DS Lite - yes. DSi - yes. 3DS - I'd imagine not for very long if you like to stay up to date.

If you get this (or whatever card you get, really) download the kernel and keep it somewhere safe. You never know when you will need to format your microSD or get a new one because the old one corrupted, and then find out that the site no longer has the software for the card. With as fly-by-night as these guys are half the time it's a valid concern.

Kernel/Wood would be the software it runs, aka what you download from their site. Roms are separate (obviously you know you won't find them here :P )

"Trusted" card I'd look for one from r4ids.cn, they tend to be much more recommended, but they also tend to run about $15, which may be a little harder to swing if you're on a tight budget for this.

Also keep in mind, none of these will run 3DS games, whatsoever. For taht you're going to need a Sky3DS, Gateway, etc. Not all of which will run on a newly updated 3DS, all of which are nearly $80.

You will also need a microSD, so be prepared to factor in another $10 to $15. Don't buy it from eachmall, get the microSD in a store. Maybe a little more expensive but you'll know you're getting a legit card. Also be forewarned that eachmall charges shipping, shouldn't be more than like $2 at most though.

Thanks for the info. I will keep the kernel safe. And as for the 3ds? I have several flashable copies of my Nand in case I need to go back to another supported firmware in the case that I get something unsupported. I have one more question, though. What is the manufacturing quality of this card? Does wear out or get broken easily?

"Wearing out" generally isn't a huge concern. They're all built relatively cheaply but still manage to hold up just fine as long as you don't beat on them. The biggest point of failure in almost all of these cards is the spring in the microSD slot failing, which doesn't really matter. It just turns the slot into a non-springloaded one.

Also, refresh the page, I made a bunch of edits to my last post you may have missed.

Thanks for filling me in! I have a few 3DSes that family members "lent" so I have an updated 3ds, and 2 exploitable ones. I already have a 3DS 9.2 CFW so if I need 3DS games I can use that. (Though I'm not really keen on 3DS piracy since it's still a current gen handheld, so I mostly use exploits for homebrew heh) I have a spare 4gb Micro SD card so i'm sure that'll be plenty for me. :) I really appreciate the help!

Which website is written at the card?
The r4isdhc.com's menu is really slow and you might have to change some settings to make all games compatible (like enable/ disable DMA). The quality of the card is relatively cheap but it shouldn't make many problems under normal conditions.
But the card works up to the latest 3ds firmware, probably won't be blocked in the future and r4isdhc.com didn't update the hardware since the 2014 version (which means that the 2014 cards can run the 2015 kernel and 2015 cards will probably be able to run the 2016 kernel if there will be one).
The r4i gold 3ds rts (r4ids.cn) is much better but you'll still get a working card if you get this card.
And just in case of loosing the kernel: just ask in this forum, I backup the kernel of the card.

I made sure that this one is a legit copy of the card (unless this seller wad using false pictures but I doubt it) I was just looking for a cheap card that wouldnt crap out on me. If by any chance something happens, I'll come to you guys just to make sure that I get something worth my money. :P
