New Monster Hunter title named Monster Hunter Cross is heading to the 3DS this year

The game was announced in the direct just a few minutes ago.
It seems like a fast paced action game, which is quite different from the regular MH series.

Actually it looks like bog-standard MH. Yeah, new more choreographic moves, but that's it.

Gotta hand it over to Capcom - the asset reuse in the MH series is something astonishing. They keep churning out games using OLD MONSTERS, OLD LOCATIONS and OLD WEAPONS all over the place and people keep buying them! (yes, I'm guilty of that)

Heck, I could see the town from MH2 in the trailer!

seems to me like the same slow game we had before, only that people and monsters now move with the speed one would expect from beings fighting to the death.
which might just be enough to finally have me enjoy a game in that series.

The first time I truly played a Monster Hunter game was the newest 3DS version, so it all felt extremely original. Now seeing a newer one it looks like they've probably been reusing the same stuff for years. What evz though, I still enjoy the game a lot, I will have to wait and see how I feel about this one.

Looks better than the usual shit they release, but until I see raw gameplay footage I wont be too optimistic they'll fix any core problems.

I'd be more interested if it were for Wii U instead of the 3DS. Oh well, seems like it's really popular on handhelds so I guess that's the smartest move businesswise.

It seems to be a crossover including some past MH villages/maps/monsters (justifying why they named with "X") but with the new MH4U mechanics.

Call of Hunter: Monster Warfare X

....and yet the Mega Man IP sits in the Capcom corner. Worse is that the game that used its Legends 3 cell shading technology (Ex Troopers) didn't even get localized

I'm starting to think that they keep producing the Monster Hunter games instead of other stuff because of their extremely low cost.

Think of it, 90% of the equipment models (weapons, armors, etc) in MH4 were already done in a previous game. Same goes for the monsters. The moves are the same as well, so they just reused the AI. They just created a new city, 2-3 new monsters and called it a day.

MH4 probably costed them something like 200000$ and that's why the super-cash-strapped Capcom can produce new MH games but not other games.

What are they also producing lately? Right, Resident Evil ports. Which have low costs, as well.

IMHO, Capcom just doesn't have the money anymore to invest in games which require even the slightest amount of capital.
