I have a few question I would love to get some answers to.

1. I have heard that if you start a retail cart in CLassic mode on Gateway that the cart wont work with any other 3ds, is this true?

2. I know that Classic Mode blocks all games and updates that you have installed on your emunand but you can update games using the eshop if you are on the latest emunand (which my new 3ds xl isnt), would installing updates with Pasta enable the updates to work in Classic Mode or do I have to wait until gateway releases a new update before i can update any of my retail carts?

3. Finally does anyone know of a way to extract the save file from a pokemon retail cart and use it on gateway?
I have been having some troubles moving the save over, which i believe may be due to the fact that the game i am trying to move (Omega Ruby) is an american retail cart but the save file on it is a japanese region file (i have it connected to the japanes global link right now)

If your cart game normally uses new encryption, and you run it in Classic Mode using Gateway, and the SysNAND is before 6.x (old enough that it only has old encryption), the cart will use old encryption, meaning that you'll lose your savefile if you try to play it outside Classic Mode (and vice versa). The cart itself will still work, but if you lose your savefile that doesn't do you much good.

1) Classic Mode is used for running emuNand but with most of the patches/hacks disabled. The card will work just fine in any other 3DS, though as Jiro2

2) As part of the signature checks no longer being disabled, installed CIAs that don't have a valid signature for your system will not run in Classic Mode. There are guides for transferring things between emuNands, which is what I think you're asking about. I haven't read them in-depth, so I could be wrong, but I believe the general process goes like this: The Pasta emuNand will have to be a copy of your current emuNand to start off, so that they'll have the same ID and the signatures will match. Then you can update, go to the eShop, get the game update, and extract the CIA from it with Funky CIA (use the -personal option to keep the signature info intact). Then you can install the CIA into your Gateway emuNand. Since the signature will be valid, it will run in Classic Mode. I'd strongly recommend checking out the guides for more info and confirmation before starting, though.

3) I've used SaveDataFiler to extract/inject save data from Alpha Sapphire on Gateway, but I don't know how you'd run SDF while being able to use retail cards. (I don't know if Gateway Mode breaks enough to prevent that, or if it only prevents games from actually running.) I believe there are guides available on moving saves from retail cards to Gateway.
