I don't think you got a grasp of the argument itself. It's not about what you are mentioning.
The argument was to the fact that he was saying that an offline DS profile already exists for o3ds which is why this isnt really adding anything for o3ds, and that those who want it can simply downgrade. Then he said the whole exploit will require porting the ninja/Zelda exploit for o3ds, which is not true as the current online method can be used as an entry point.
If you have a way to help people that are on 5.x-9.2 without a working browser to use the online exploit, feel free to share, you'll make a lot of happy people.
I said those people without a working browser need another offline exploit, so the Cubic Ninja/Ocarina of Time one. They'll never be able to use an online exploit as they don't have a working browser because those 3DS were never updated online (cart updates don't have browser update in it).
And yeah, once they would have a Cubic Ninja/Ocarina of Time update, this mset thing will be near useless as if they really want the ds profile exploit, then, they could just downgrade.
And you said "no, they don't need it, they can use the online one", but no, they can't. Get a O3DS which a "0" digit at the end of the firmware, with-in the 5.0-9.2 range and try the exploit browser, you'll see by yourself it don't work.
Where did I said this exploit was useless for O3DS users? It's mainly an O3DS update only, because of the emunand 9.7 support, so of course it' bring a lot to O3DS.
I said it doesn't bring a lot for N3DS users, which is true, it just let you avoid to use the cart which wasn't a big problem (you can't really get it from a friend then give them back or sold your cart because if you need to have a way to run the exploit again if a problem occurs).
You are missing the point, the old method to downgrade to 4.5 results in 4.5 system. This method only downgrade system settings. They aren't in any way the same.
Also, I don't think they would need to port the cubic ninja or Zelda support for old 3ds for this. It is is only used as an entry point the first time to install the CIA. But we can always use the online method instead as an entry point and install the CIA.
Again, that's how I understand it, unless I am missing something
So, quoting the original statement again, now that you know about those browserless 3DS issue. Of course, they need to port the Cubic Ninja/Ocarina of Time exploit (or find another offline exploit) if they want everyone to be able to use it.
Of course, people with browser exploit might be able to run it if it works on O3DS, but I don't think much people care. People who wanted a offline exploit already downgraded (and only a few people care about the save incompatibility with retail cards as probably 99% of gateway users doesn't use retail cards), so pretty useless for O3DS users that already have a working exploit (especially when probably most users don't use the browser exploit, except to downgrade).
And if it doesn't work directly on O3DS (didn't tested), I just think it would be a waste of time to port this mset thing to O3DS.
