OP
I really don't want to buy a N3DS XL, the O3DS XL was big enough, and difficult to carry around in my pockets, etc, and I don't want to buy an even larger system than the O3DS XL.
I only really got the O3DS XL because I originally wanted the ALBW special edition.
I don't have it anymore. The audio jack had a factory defect, that I ignored at first, but got worse from use over time.

who knows i think that is in NOA's hands.....i guess the more people go ask nintendo directly the more they will consider it, i guess kicking up a stink in online forums etc may help too.....but it just depends on how pigheaded they are going to be about it

there is always region changed consoles, but thats a bit of a process to get working 100% atm (if ever, still not a perfected method)

The n3DS XL is the same size as the old one isn't it?

I think Nintendo will realize pretty quickly that there are a lot of people like you who just prefer the smaller size, it's just a matter of time before they release the small n3DS in US.
If they don't, that would be bad for them financially, it would mean lost sales.

pretty much the same size, maybe like a mm or so bigger as its a *slightly* tighter fit in my case, but i think thats just because the top corners seem less rounded than on the oXL

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
