To be fair the only competition for the handheld wars this generation was the Vita...I know one person with a Vita. Out of hundreds of people I've met on my travels, ONE has a Vita. Yeah, Nintendo kinda obliterated the handheld market but then that's basically tradition at this point, especially with games like Fire Emblem looking better every time I see them. This new one looks like it's got unbelievable replay value, though I do hope they haven't removed the child system to make room for it, that would be quite a misstep if you ask me.
It is a damn shame that the 3DS isn't getting much in the way of exciting stuff though. I'll probably download the new Pokemon Rumble, but only because it's free. Xenoblade makes me seriously consider the New 3DS upgrade but I for one couldn't give a flying rat's ass about Amiibo, I have enough junk kicking around my flat with my cuddly chocobo collection. Thing is, I have a rule that a console becomes worth my attention when it has at least 6 exclusives I can't wait to get my mitts on. Right now the N3DS has....one. It's a great one, but still a one. Was rather hoping to see more today that might have tipped the scales.
I did notice one thing though. Marth has always spoken Japanese, even in Smash Bros he's never said a word in English. But he clearly spoke English in the STEAM video. So...why the fuck doesn't he speak English in Smash? Just a thought. Glad Mewtwo is making a return, I remember his throws being stupidly OP back in Melee. Not fussed about Lucas.
Yeah I did think the 3DS got a bit short changed in this Direct too. I hope Nintendo don't get too complacent. I'm personally looking forward to Fire Emblem, Bravely Second and Xenoblade.
The lack of new3DS support is a bit... hmm... weird. I own a new 3DS but to be honest, i respect Nintendo if they don't push too many exclusive n3DS titles since the 3DS install base is huge and it'd be a bit of a dick-move for people who can't afford a n3DS. The new 3D, c-stick and triggers is enough of a bonus for me personally.
Thing is I already have an XL and the CPP. And the only time I use the CPP is for Monster Hunter. And I can hunt without it now there's no underwater missions. If Xenoblade was like Ace Combat Assault Horizon Plus, in that it worked on the regular 3DS models but has some sort of bonus if played on new models (like when you got a secret shop for playing the Zelda Oracle games on a GBA instead of a Gameboy Colour) then I'd be packing a huge pile of old games into my rucksack right now and prepping for an imminent trade-in run.
Didn't see anything of Bravely Second, I thought that was a bit odd but oh well. Provided I don't have to replay bits five times to pad out the play time for no real reason I'll be happy. I was under the impression that Fire Emblem X Persona was a 3DS title too, not sure where I heard that but clearly I was mistaken, that was a kick in the helmet.
To be honest though it's all largely irrelevant, it's not like I have a shortage of great games on my 3DS anyway. I'm sure we'll start seeing some decent releases soon and until then I'll just crack on with MH4U while I wait for Fire Emblem.
Yeah FExSMT was always a Wii U title.
3DS did get Persona Q.
Yeah I agree. The 3DS has Majoras Mask 3D, MH4U and Xenoblade 3D. Considering its only 3 months into the year, the 3DS has probably delivered the best selection of exclusive titles so far.
Also the mario/puzzle/dragons game actually looked good. In theory, it should be terrible but man I loved the way they presented it and the RPG elements.
I remember reading a rumour about SNES VC, I wondered if it could ever happen,
3DS is very underpowered and Nintendo is lazy as hell, I did not hype, because I hardly believed it,
but it would be fantastic if they did. I also think it's about time for them to release GBA VC,
I have the ambassador program titles, and even then I think it's preety stupid to not release GBA VC.
There are tons of great GBA titles that could be released and the 3DS is the perfect platform for them.
It brought a smile to my face when they announced the first two N64 VC games would be Super Mario 64 and Donkey Kong 64. It makes me hope, that despite all other circumstances proving to be otherwise, that maybe Nintendo hasn't forgotten about classic 3D platformers.
It's been way too long since any developer has made a classic 3D 'collectathon' platformer that was actually decent. I want those days back!
Yeah it sucks. I had to buy a DS Lite just to play Golden Sun and advance Wars. I would have rather paid Nintendo the £60 it cost me to get a DS Lite+Flashcard.
And no, I don't want to play them on my 50 inch TV Nintendo!
For johtoddlers, this is a big acomplishemntAlso read about a rumour of Pokémon Gold and Silver as 3D Classics, I could hardly believe that and even if it was real I couldn't care less.
Pokémon Heartgold and Soulsilver are great and better than their originals on every aspect, why would I want those oldies?
