I just got a N3DS XL that I expected to have 9.5, but it came with 9.0. Ideally I want to use the Gateway because of homebrew, but I'm not sure about emuNand. I definitely want to go online, so does that mean with new each update I need to wait for a current emuNand to do so? If so I'm thinking of just going with the Sky3DS. The price is about the same for either one for me so it shouldn't really matter (And to confirm these prices are O.K.: Sky3DS is 85$ where I was looking getting it, Gateway $65 there, and Cubic Ninja 20$ at a local Gamestop)

im partial to gateway, i love everything on my 3ds, but then again im new to this stuff. I just like the ability to have options and gateway offers that.

I stand by gateway, thanks to cia files and such, I find the difference between the carts is massive. Cias are just so much more convenient and nicer to have. Even if we were to get blocked somehow, we can always firmware spoof for dayssssss.

But what about going online after updates?

im not too sure as far as going online... i don't have a need to go online yet... and im willing to wait for gateway to do their thing.

But also, i have heard some good things about sky, i just dont have experience with it.

I believe if you "pirate" games, they will contain public headers and then there is a chance you can get banned. whereas with gateway, you can install cia files....

IM not even sure i am understanding it all correctly cause that is all i get from reading the threads.

I've followed all that, and I'm trying to export my Gateway SSB gamesave through SaveDataFiler, but CTR Card is labled -- broken -- . Am I just SOL?
Maybe I am misunderstanding you. You use NTR to get the save off the cart then use SDF export to 3dz or cia.

But what about going online after updates?
Listen carefully.

You do not need to be on the latest FW to go online. You do need to be on the latest to access the eshop. Without the eshop you cannot download any game updates from nintendo, if there are any, and that will prevent you from going online.

So what do do?

We go to the "other" site and download the updates and install them as cia with big blue menu or other tool. At least for North America they are available very quickly so at most you loose a couple of days online access. DLC works the same way and it is found in the same forum.

Headers. Cia installs use the system header so you don't have to mess with them. With sky or 3ds files you do need a private header. Of course it is not hard to get a really cheap shovelware game and dump dump the game and extract the header with gateway. Sky does not have dump capabilities.
I install online games as cia and solo games as roms.

I have sky and gateway. The sky is mostly for the various CN saves for CFW and a collection of games so if my boys friends can play games they they don't have.

Actually I forgot to mention, I have a friend who can get me a private header to use, otherwise I would probably have just went with the Gateway already.

I'm pretty sure I saw a thread showing you could change headers with Sky3DS as well. Something about Sky no ban or something to that effect.

Hey, now... play backups!...

What I was suggesting was to get a Gateway still but to get a Sky3DS as well (instead of CN or OOT).

Sky3DS... as long as it doesn't get blocked does seem like a whole lot less hassle than Gateway though, for ROM backups only anyway.
Why stop there? Go all out like me or go home. :)

i would definately pick CN over OOT for the utility. Sky is the better choice if you want to head down any of the new CFW routes.

If you have a n3ds and cubic ninja it is now possible. Start with this short thread, it has links to longer discussions.

2hack is not incorrect, but with the right setup it is possible now.

I managed to get it to work by using NTR to export the cartridge save, then by using SDF to export the Gateway save for SSB, replacing the SDF files on my SD card with the files I got from the NTR save export, then using SDF to import the saves back to my Gateway.

Selling any of those copies of CN?
I am not a scalper. I hate them.

I have two boys, 1 o3ds and 3 n3ds to support. We each need a disk to boot the exploit if we are separated. I ordered them them at $30 each. Still a rip.

I keep hearing people are paying 30+ for CN but Gamestops website shows lots of stores have it for 20$, is that wrong?

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Does anyone have a private header that they're not using and could share?

And if that's too ridiculous a question  would anyone with a Gateway card let me ship them a game to extract headers from?

i have seen cubic ninja for $20... i got mine for $26 of ebay
$26 off EBay? When? Last I liiked they were going for a lot more. That is good news for everyone.

I did a amazon the Friday after this update dropped, so I was a bit screwed.

Lol, well it is a ridiculous question. It is no longer private if someone else has access to it. Whatever you do don't buy on off EBay. That is a cash cow scam.

I will have to think about that one, not sure if there are any legal ramifications for dumping someone's game. Take a look at the Sky Army Knife thread. I poked my head In here the other day and and it seemed as if the tool was generating valid headers. The dev and everyone was rather perplexed about it and I don't know the latest.

You are not wrong that is their price the problem is finding a location that has it in stock. Here a tip a GS manager told me. Use the GS app not the website. The app is tied into the inventory system directly but the web site just gets periodic updates. I just checked in my city and there are only two copies and the locations are rather rural and about 30 miles away. If you go for one make sure to reserve it and receive confirmation before traveling.

I hear the Japanese copies are $100
