made a backup of my 9.2 emunand before updating. updated just fine, started downloading smash bros update, then i learned smash bros currently doesnt boot. so after update completed i restored 9.2 emunand and went back to mt card and the update is still working :D I am guessing since i already had the ticket for the older update, the new update just replaces files on the sd card and is still valid for the older fw.

You can actually get the update with MT Emunand first, then restore your sysnand to 9.2 and it will still work there. The first time I had an issue (long story though) where I had to manually locate the update and insert it in an old backup with the 1.0.4 update, turns out the update appears in data management greyed out with an X, so I have my doubts the older update info has anything to do with it and all updates are in fact treated separately by the system.

Ok tried to use it. Most of it seems to work. However it doesn't seem to find my Gateway Emunand. I booted rxMode and I'm still on sysnand. It is in rxMode though as the version string in settings menu is customized.

Sysnand is on 9.2 (USA firmware). Emunand is on 9.5.0-23U I believe.
Still it seems to be the checking problem for your emunand size.
Will fix that as soon as possible.
Same here, same setup as Apache Thunder except mine is European. 3DS XL if that makes a difference.

Your NCSD is currently on a different Offset, wait till tommorow or read the last few pages to workaround it.

Hey, Roxas, this is a long-shot, but what are the long-term possibilities looking like of getting save file decryption/resigning working? If we could use arm9 control to enable save editing on retail carts (which can't use savedatafiler), that'd be pretty damn cool.

Alternatively, if rxfirm doesn't overwrite the 6.X key and savedatafiler is launchable in it eventually, that'd work too.
savedatafiler support is never going to happen.

Roxas75 has expressed interest in save export/decryption and import/encryption but since there is little information out there it's going to take time to research and implement.

ARM9 may acess the Save in Cards and the save in SD can be decrypt too, however after edit you need sign the save with AES-MAC(if i am not mistake), but i did some dissasembler in Process9/PXI functions and i will probably find a solution soon.

Awesome. So you're working on this project with Roxas75 then I take it?

At least we know there could be a free public CFW in the future.
(If roxas is still alive and interested in 3DS development at that point, haha)

Ook guys i was asleep. I'm an human too.
As for today, i'll release an update v2.0.1 to fix the nand checking, so you do not have to relocate the NCSD header anymore.
All the rest needs a bit more time, but i'll work on them all.
My goal is to have full support for all games (so fixing SSB) and give regionfree.
After those ones are done i can think on all the fancy things to add. ;)

It would be probably nice if you added screenshots support too.

Why did this never make front page? This is a HUGE advance in the 3DS scene I only just found out about!
And here I thought I was gonna have to buy a Gateway for emuNAND on my 2DS!

Finally I can play Smash online! I can download patches in emuNAND and have them work for sysNAND too, correct?

Also I'm a lazy nub who can't read right now (3:30am atm), how does emuNAND work? Does it start with fresh NAND, or copy your existing NAND at first boot? And is there any risk of emuNAND breaking if I blindly update to an unknown new FW?

It's only been available for 17 hours, and still needs some work (in correctly identifying emuNAND).

So it's not quite ready for the front page yet.

As Roxas posted above Smash and Monster Hunter aren't working yet because of their need for extra RAM.

They will only work on sysnand if you had installed them before (or previous versions of them).

Hey can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?
I'm on 4.5.0-7k sysnand and 9.5.0-19k emunand
I put rxTools.dat and 0.25xkeyX.bin on the root of the sd card and launched the qr code and it does nothing...
just keeps on showing rxTools.dat loading...
