We have ARM9, so we can grab full NAND dumps at this point. We will probably end up making a menu interface similar to how GW has one in order to dump NAND and create emuNAND partitions. Since most people already have an MT/GW emuNAND we'll probably stick to that format vs redNANDs.

oh ok! nice!:yay:
....hum..not sure if you can tell right now..but judging by the 'time' you think it will take before releasing anything, can you tell me if i should wait for this project's nand dumper or should i go for a hardmod dump?:p1ng2: (i really need to make a dump as soon as possible..)
Great work keep it up!! the progress is truly appreciated!

Do a hardware dump. If you're on an exploitable version, you'll want to ensure your ability to stay on that version asap.

yeah plus hardware mods allow you to downgrade should you ever accidentally update, plus you could update to 9.5 in the meantime and get stuff from eshop etc, system transfer anything from your old 3ds while you still can, then should they fix the 9.5 encryption bug and we loose the latest emunand capabilities, you can still use your 9.5 nand backup after doing the system transfer

Took forever. :P

Is there a chance before a fully-fledged toolset is released that we could simply get a soft reboot with region checks patched? I want to use the JPN 3ds I've had since October for more than just Bravely Default. :)

Edit: Aren't N3ds Nand dumps supposed to be 2gb?

well at least it wasn't a 1.8GB model then :P

but great work anyways

You do realise even with the bigger NAND you don't have access to that extra space?

...and great work "anyways"? o_O

Edit: actually, it might be, I was stopping my dump at the "max" size regardless, but earlier I tried to read further sectors and it worked.

No. 0x4D800000. Dump anything more with the bigger NAND and you're wasting your time.

yeah, but if your making a full nand dump it would still be dumped ...which would mean it would of took longer than what you had to wait with that one

PS, the 1.2GB is the size of the dump you get from the samsung chip even via a hardware mod, some use a different chip which dumps at 1.8GB...but yeah not all of the chip is actually used

I'm kinda not, I'm making an N3DS NAND dump, which is 0x4D800000, but earlier I could read further sectors for some reason...

Do you want zeroes that much?

just edited my post, but the samsung chips are that exact size when dumped via hardware mod even

Are the dumps any faster than the old 3ds dumps, since the N3DS has a better processor?

Well shoot. So the IO speed didn't get bumped up with the switch from SD to microSD?

Well, SD throughput in general is the same (fast SD cards can be utilized quite quickly, but there's so much encryption on the system that it kinda nerfs that by quite a bit). The issue is you're hammering the SDIO hardware by reading from one source and writing to another repeatedly.

So... I saw some people talking about emunand, is this the same kind of emunand that flashcards uses, the run through the SD card and let you update and access the eshop? Also, is this compatible with Gateway's emunand?

If so, I can't wait until you release this  I wanted to download Flipnote Studio since last month but I can't

Yes and yes.
