Gaming What card should i buy for NDS lite these days pls?

hi

got my dusty nds lite out and still have the acekard2i but most games seam to crash and i aint messed with updates on it in years, so was curious if their last update was worth using or is there a more popular card for NDS now which is updated?

Which Flash Cart Should I Get?

Any flashcard on that list should work with Lite.

I personally would recommend either Supercard DSTwo or R4i Gold 3DS RTS for the best game compatibility etc if you are planning to buy a new DS flashcard.

I believe the newest update to Acekard 2i should be compatible with most of the DS games as well. Their site seems to be down, but you can still get their AKAIO update through archive.org:

oh man i remember the days of my ak2i

it was the best NDS flashcart i've ever used (i've also had 2 original R4s, and one of those R4i clones.) used to use it with my DS lite. latest version of AKAIO should support most if not all firmwares.

really i'd only say that it's worth getting a SCDS2 if you want to play GBA games on any system from the DSi onwards (or on your DS Lite without buying an EZFlash)

SCDS2=SuperCard DS 2(Two)

I don't know how to find the supercard dstwo in the uk stores.

But with supercard dstwo you can:

Emulate snes and gba with perfect quality!
Watch movies in any format
And play nds homebrew/backups

If any of those "normal R4" cards are original R4s, and not clones, you can use the Wood R4 firmware to play most games, if not all.

Actually, some of the R4-clones also work fine with the Wood kernel, especially those without the SDHC support.

There's a Wood kernel for R4 card which enables you to play most of the games. The only downside is, R4 doesn't support SDHC cards. As for DSTT, official updates discontinued in 2008 and you need to find custom kernels.

I even use my AK2i with my 3DS 4.1 fw, all the games I play work with it.

I'm guessing that you have better platforms to emulate or play media on based on the fact that you shelved your DS at some point. If that's the case, I personally would just grab a cheap DS flash cart like the R4i Gold and if you want GBA on your DS grab the new EZ Flash 4.

I have a SCDS2 and as a DS flash cart alone its impact on battery life is not worth its features. Everything but its cheat finder is available on other DS flash carts in that respect.

The software that uses its in built CPU are worth having as long as you don't already have a device (e.g. phone/tablet/etc) that can do this. It's emulation, for example, is just slightly less capable than on a PSP (at lower resolution) and FAR less capable than a modern Android device (at FAR less resolution).

Edit: SickPuppy, I can verify that neither of those statements are true.

I doubt that. And the emulator drains the battery within three or four hours (tested on my phat and lite models). For GBA games, EZ-Flasg IV is a better choice. As for the movies, it does support several common formats like MKV/AVI, but I guess it plays only videos with lower resolution (around 240p) and bitrates.

That update is for AKAIO (yes install it), there is another update for the flashcart called ak2ifw_update_3ds43_dsi144, give a look around for it. I might have it somewhere if you can't find it anywhere.
