CONFIRMED WORKING ON LATE MODEL 3DS

I just downgraded my 3DSXL I just picked up from GameStop. Out of box firmware was 6.3. Sorry for taking pictures with a potato, and had to re-size last photo because it was too large. All I had at the moment.

just copy the whole sd card on your pc, then format emunand, shut down the 3ds and copy everything from the pc back to the sd card.. if it doesnt recognize it yet and the icons won´t show up, then delete the "nintendo 3ds" folder from your sd card, and copy it again from the pc (after that it worked for me and some other people)

Hey, thank you very much! Trying it now but I'm sure it will work as I just read it somewhere else! For others, this was the problem: You mustn't boot to gateway mode after formatting emuNAND or else new home menu data will be created and you won't be able to restore your saves until you format it again

We want to caution users using the downgrade feature: it is a dangerous operation as it will write to sysnand and if something goes wrong it may brick your 3DS.
We currently recommend that ONLY USERS WITH A NAND MOD try this, and report back any issues.

This is great! I'm on 9.2 and I'm gonna downgrade to 4.x as soon as I finish backing up my SysNAND. Does is downgrade to 4.5 or 4.2? Different people are saying different things. I'm hoping it's 4.2 because then I'll be able to use my AceKard 2i, which was blocked for good in the 4.4 update. And one more thing, does the downgrade affect any downloads or save files? Can I switch back and forth between 4.x and 9.x with the downgrade file and my SysNAND backup?

A hardware mod (requires soldering to your 3DS motherboard) that lets you dump your SYSNAND in case anything goes wrong, you can always restore your sysnand with that, what's not possible with gateway cause when you brick your 3ds, nothing will boot
Therefor ppl with a hardware mod for nand backup can always restore

I can follow the instructions above, I'm just scared that something will happen..... I can't really do a hardware mod....

If I were you I'd hold out a little longer. There might still be some bugs, but if you wait a little those might be fixed.

I hope so, I recently bought a 4.2 3DS and i wish i hadn't now, but I still have 3 3DS and 1 N3DS, all exploitable, so maybe once i sell some of my units I'll break even

Better wait and sell those to ppl who will brick there 3DS in an attempt to downgrade there 3DS, i bet you can make proffit then
