This tool just wrote like 50gb of files, each with recursively growing filenames. Did somoething go wrong? Seems to loop infinitely with the output.

Is there anything like this for macOS ?

Is the current GitHub repo of this tool legit and safe to use?

It contains bunch of .exe and there is not the original source of some of them

This is exactly what I'm experiencing. The batch file has been running for over an hour and has ballooned the folder I use from only a few gigs to almost 300.

I couldn't download it, it said that the server replies that you don't have permission to download this file.

any idea how?

You need to introduce yourself on the welcome thread and have at least 5 post before you can download things. read the site rules at top of page.

I only began looking into this today so I have basically a rank amateur understanding, I didn't even know the .cci file type existed.
Games which only existed as eshop downloads (like the generation 1 pokemon games) cannot be converted into cci?

For 3ds era: .cci files usually are derived from .cia files. CIA files are usually files which are installed (on 3ds). The most conventional way of providing roms would be .3ds. Both can be encrypted tho. Encrypted .cia usually gets decrypted in .cci which is runnable by emulator the same as .3ds is. 3ds will be decrypted and stays .3ds. The only difference is really whether you want to install it on a real 3ds or not. For that matter I would prefer .cia files. For all other cases .3ds / .cci files are the way to go. - Gen 1 Pokemon (if you talk about the old roms) dont have an encryption. You can play them easily in any emulator nowadays. They are not meant to be converted into a .cci.

The provided scripts here are to turn the encrypted 3ds games into unecrypted ones, since the downfall of the citra project the emulators do not accept encrypted games anymore (azahar emulator). Only Pokemon X/Y AS/OR S/M US/UM are affected afaik.
