Should I be able to port my actual emunand when I'll downgrade the 3DS. I want to stay in 4.5, but nobody knows when Gateway is going to release the files and I would to play some games while (and don't lose the saves).

Because stuff like this has the possibility of bricking. "Better safe than sorry" They don't want to risk it. Are you really going to buy their product after they broke your stuff?
The possibility of bricking doesn't mean that the alternative is always bricking. You shouldn't justify every software developer decision with "at least you're not getting bricked".

Their communication is a bit lacking I guess but it's not THAT bad.
I would say that it is worse than EA and Steam support combined, and that's saying something.

You don't want to be me. It should be working and it's not (more or less). Playcoin Setter made Find Mii fun for like 10 more minutes.
I would rather be you, because you're running a supported system and firmware and most people have successfully made it work. You can troubleshoot, get support, and you can replace the Gateway if it is faulty. We can't do shit.

They have not misled anyone about this. You were not promised support at a specific time. You were not promised support at the same time. You were promised that you will get to use it.
If there's one thing that you don't want to downplay, it's the "soon" garbage that Gateway pulls, seriously. There is a mountain of evidence that Gateway constantly promised and broke a fairly large amount of release dates that they gave customers through e-mail. Come on, we all know that the "soon" schtick got old, and it was frustrating. If you want to argue this further, go look over the huge amount of e-mails collected by users over the months.

I guess I just hope that people here can stop the "N3DS vs non-N3DS user" battle. You non-N3DS guys should have a little empathy and understanding for us N3DS guys. You guys are having a blast while we're still getting the Soon Treatment. Understand that we're just frustrated.

I'm not going to reply directly the TemplarGR because it seems that we have the Gateway version of Thomas12345/PaGaN on our hands. 0/10 troll.

Silly question: Is there a way to extract my "Phoenix Right: Dual Destinies" save file from my SysNAND backup and to insert it in EmuNAND?

You can replace your EmuNAND with your SysNAND backup with the EmuNAND tool. Why don't you have the save file on EmuNAND already?

Why are others saying that Gateways 3.0 UltraFW does not work for the New 3DS because according to Max Console instructions it does:-

No it doesn't. Read the news post on gateway-3ds.com

Thanks for your reply. Well, that's what I'm wondering. After the EmuNAND format (according to the official guide) all my downloaded games, updates, save files and design were missing. I was able to redownload everything for free from the eshop, but my save files are missing (well "file", Phoenix Right is my only digitally downloaded game).

Have you tested Max ways to see if it does not work?

The browser in the N3DS is completely different. They used the browser exploit instead of the Mii exploit because that one broke Mii functionality and they wanted to get something released. N3DS support is coming when they fix that bug.

But if it IS a possibility then I sure as hell wouldn't want to risk releasing it. Even if that isn't the case, if it isn't working reliably then why release it? You'd be pissed off just as much if they said "Here have this" and it just flat out not work or work 1/10 of the time.

I'm patient enough that even if I had a N3DS I still wouldn't be complaining. There is plenty of other things to do that don't involve it.

It's fine to be frustrated but a lot of these people are being stupid about it. Claiming they were lied to, claiming they are not going to wait, "threatening" to jump to Sky if it isn't released in a certain amount of time. They sound like little brats.

The saves are gone forever if you didn't backup your SD card. Did you?

They sound like little brats.

Some of them are little brats, some of them are shills, some of them are just trolls.

Another question. Would it be possible to use the same procedure to actually upgrade from an older sysnand to 4.5?

For example, my 3DS is 4.2, and i would like to upgrade to 4.5 but i don't have a 4.5 game... I don't believe this is really needed, since i mostly use emunand anyway, but just for the sake of it...

Okay, I've run into an issue. I installed emuNAND, updated it to 9.4, then formatted my sysNAND to unlink it from emuNAND, and now I can't run the exploit. It gives the 'An error has occurred' message and asks to press HOME. I'm using emuNAND Tool right now to inject my NAND backup into the emuNAND partition, but I don't know how to get the exploit running again. Am I screwed? My sysNAND version says it's still 9.2.0-20U, too, so I don't believe I updated my sysNAND on accident.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
