Nope, it's worked for me everytime I've done it like this. Wifi off, clear history and bookmarks, don't turn wifi on until you're at the bookmarks screen or typing in a URL.

This is my opinion (sorry if it's already been said)
Didn't gateway say no beta for this one? And SonyUSA tested theirs on a N3DS around a week ago, clear in the pics you can see the little c stick thing... I think gateway was pressured to realise SOMETHING, so they haven't perfected it and released this to make most customers happy. Right now I'm just an upset N3DS XL owner, but I guess I should be happy I live in a country that actually got something first for once!
Either way, I hope those who can use the update have fun with their cards!

How do you figure? My 9.2 unit has everything my 4.5 unit has except the annoyance of needing wifi to start the exploit. Oh and I can't use the shitty R4 clone blue cart (so what?).

The annoyance of "needing wifi" isn't immediately apparent if you just use the console at home - but that's usually a minority.

I personally created a hack to enable a non-wifi hack on an old Archos device a few years back - the relief to the community was HUGE.

i did format emunand, now whenever i click boot gateway mode it just freezes

While the SPI Test fails on mine, the SPI read test is ok, and Card1 games still save and load properly. Could be they just forgot to update their diagnostics to check the new firmware's spi properly, as it did not fail before the update .

Loads of people's SPI tests are failing, but mine passed fine... WTF?

I agree it isn't optimal and removing the need for wifi will be just as great as your hack, but just get into GW mode and stay there until you know you'll have wifi access.

I just can't agree at all that this update is pile of shit.

The browser exploit doesn't seem to be very reliable.. I've been fighting with my 3ds for the past 20 minutes trying to get into gateway mode. I really hope they fix this soon

I just wanna know when, or before when, the support for the New 3DS is gonna be released... February is the absolute extreme that I can manage, I can't bear to watch my New 3DS LL and my Gateway cards and have nothing to do about them whatsoever.

Got it to work! 9.2U with no Gateway card whatsoever! Backing up my NAND right now - took me about 3 tries.

How is this possible?

How is this possible?

You can go to the gateway menu without gateway, but you can go to the gateway mode.
