If they manage to stuff this into the xbone and PS4 as well then that could prove something of a game changer, on top of what this might represent (US TV arrangements confuse me*). I would have liked to also see a discovery channel like channel in there but travel, HGTV and food probably go a good way towards that.

*fortunately we have the following to explain it

This sounds great and all but many of you forget how the internet is provided in the States. 9/10 your ISP IS your cable company and good luck finding a Internet only plan under 50. Also, many cable companies lock you into a package of internet plus crummy cable channels if you even try to get a low tier service.

Paying to streaming channels over the internet? WTF is wrong with service provides. I see this as a step back words in digital communications.

Seems like a pointless idea since if you're watching tv via internet you could probably just as easily download whatever it is you want to watch, or subscribe to a much cheaper service and steam it with much, much more versatility. I'm sure services exist to stream the latest tv shows online, and with no stupid ass commercials like regular tv.

TV is pretty obsolete. Aside from casually glancing at it during dinner or watching Survivor with my family (which we almost never watch on time anyway), I haven't sat down and watched 'TV' in at least 4 years. If I wanna watch a show, I download or stream it. So many people I talk to just watch Netflix or download an entire series to watch. I don't know many people who still watch TV.

It's a neat idea, but it seems a bit pointless if you're not letting people at least pick what channels they want in their package, especially when you're up against Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus, and the countless other legitimate services that already bypass the need for channels (and that's not even getting into piracy).

I can't wait to watch all of the stuff I watch online on demand on channels and interlaced with ads instead. Oh, wait, that's an infinitely worse solution.

*Giggles over the thought that live TV is still a thing in the age of HD online streaming and it's watched by more than just dinosaurs.*

Netflix has thousands of shows from hundreds of channels for like 15 bucks a month (I think?) Yet dish has 12 channels for 20 bucks a month. The logic is wack

Netflix is 5.99 for 2 people at once to stream SD. 8.99 for 2 people to stream videos up to 1080. And 11.99 for 4 users at once to stream up to 2k hd aka ultra hd.

My ISP already allows me to watch all the channels I want via pc and mobile besides the TV (although I do pay 100€ a month but that includes phone, mobiles, tv and internet as well).

That is pretty nice, however this is more about the US where most are happy to have telecoms more advanced than a tin can phone and a TV delivery more advanced than handing out a VHS at the local town hall.

It's either ZON, MEO or Vodafone. Yeah, for that price they do give ya a pretty nice bundle.

I prefer to download the episodes I want to watch and then call it a day so paying for TV channels and waiting for the show I want to come up is just not worth it any more, plus with Blu-rays, Netflix and all that.. Nah.

Yeah, I have MEO (although I wouldn't include Vodafone on that list since Vodafone has really crappy services that can't compare to either MEO's or ZON (which is now named NOS).
MEO has a pretty nice service which allows the user to host their own channel, called MEO Kanal. It's actually my main reason for preferring MEO over NOS since there are like 30 channels filled with all the latest anime in 720p (plus some have all the episodes of Naruto and One Piece, which is nice for marathons).

Plus, with all the TV services nowadays recording everything that airs for 7 days, I just watch whatever I want when I want. x'D

Anyway, I can't really see the purpose of this service, sure, 20$ isn't a lot, but it's always better to watch TV on a real TV. <.<
