What's up with the dislike for the Sky3DS? I cannot tell if it is serious or just trolling. It does what it is intended to do. It plays games on all firmwares up to the current one. If you're just looking for something that can play games, what is the problem? Nintendo may be able to fix the exploit with a future update, or they may not, but it does not matter if people do not update their firmware. People have been staying on 4.x firmware in order to use their Gateways for a while now and I haven't seen much complaining about having to do that. I have a Gateway and I am patiently waiting for their update because I do like the future-proofing the cart offers but to dismiss the Sky3DS like some on this board are doing makes very little sense to me.

it's gateway or bust here, it's like the old flashcart sections for ds, except there's only one section for 3ds, it's mainly gateway fangirls who can't even entertain the idea of choice.

We have nothing against Sky3DS as a product but as a company. Firstly the intentionally made that 10 game limit just so you have to buy more than one card. When the good people have found a way to bypass the 10 game limit they decided heck, why not make another card with a blue magical button that removes the limit and fuck over all those resellers who bought our product from us and the customers as well.
Actions like this make a company like Sky3DS look like shit. Keeping all this in mind, what do you think is gonna happen when Nintendo blocks it? A rainbow colored button? A new card? Another $100 spent for nothing?

I don't think it matters if Nintendo blocks it seeing as most people are not going to update their firmware. Like I said, people have stayed on 4.x for two years in order to continue using their Gateways. Now Gateway is released an update that will allow people with firmware up to 9.2 to use it and that is great but I doubt any GW users plan to update their firmware past that, seeing as it has taken so long just for GW to add support for it. GW users are going to be stuck on 9.2 for a while. An update allowing higher than that may come or may not come. Obviously, the potential for added support is high because of the way the cart works.

The Sky3DS seems like it should be easier to block but other than vague statements saying it is easy to detect someone using a Sky3DS, we don't know. You also must keep in mind that detecting is not the same as blocking. If it was that easy then I would have assumed Nintendo would have done it by now. Regardless, if it is easy and it is blocked with the next firmware update, does it matter? Sky3DS users are going to be stuck on <9.4 just like GW users have been stuck on 4.x for two years, and will probably be stuck on <9.2 for a while.

I never said they would be stuck forever. GW users are not going to be stuck forever, assuming the support team continues to be as good as they have been thus far. They have been stuck on a firmware for two years now, though. Who knows how long they will be stuck on 9.2 or lower? The capability for future updates is there but the timetable is not.

The Sky3DS works perfectly right now on up to 9.4. I doubt a game that requires higher firmware is going to be coming out in the near future. Even if it does, the Sky3Ds is still the only choice users with anything greater than 4.5 currently have. The upcoming update for GW will change that to 9. but that still doesn't help the people using 9.4. For all we know, GW may wait another two years before releasing support for anything over 9.2. The Sky3DS and the GW are not the same thing. they each have their pros and their cons. I personally prefer the GW but I do not see the problem with the Sky3DS. It is a good cart for what it is intended to do.

Nobody have any problem with Sky3DS, people who aren't on 9.2+ just think that its not a wise choice in the long run, and the reasons are pretty clear.

By "stuck" do you mean stuck on that sysnand version or? As far as I know GW plans to go all the way from 9.2 -4.x. Meaning any regular 3DS will be compatible with GW. Sky3DS does the job quite well but as I said the product is ok - the company is shit. The only people I see using Sky3DS are the N3DS owners or the ones who accidentally updated past 9.2.

In the video they haven't even tried to change the hardware of the sky3ds. The button, led and micro sd are all in the same position.
