This isn't some kind of technical loophole that makes the mods say "Oh well, they outsmarted us." The link contains a link for the launcher.dat, which is prohibited in this forum. Just because it's link of a link, that doesn't mean it's okay.

it's all illegal. some things are just more than others. plenty of ppl posting links to GW's website or Sky3D's website or whatever. I don't see the mods deleting those. It's not a direct link to a place hosting the file so it should be fine. if it's not, I'm sure the mods will take care of it. I couldn't care less.

Yeah they usually post updates around that time. But I'm guessing the release is gonna be a little bit more symbolic. I'm guessing the 31st is the day.

The exploit 'being the cause' for the icon jump has been debunked numerous times in this thread. It is well-established that it's due to the red-nail lady pressing the new ZR button.
You can try it if you have a N3DS(XL).
Of course, the exploit can nevertheless still involve Mii Maker/Studio. There's no way to know until release. But if you're basing this solely on the icon jump in the video... we already know that it was the ZR button that caused it.

Well they did said in an email that the blue card will be of no use in this exploit so Im guessing a QR code is very likely to be used.
While it's certainly a possibility, there are other plausible entrypoints. Browser exploits, for example. Or maybe something like Banner/LetterBomb - malformed banner for SD content and/or hacking the 3DS Notification system.
The most interesting part of this whole reveal for me is definitely going to be the region-free. But the next most interesting thing will be finally knowing the entrypoint they've used, as well as the other secondary holes.

They gotta cover their asses to make sure their exploit doesn't become exploitable by other companies or that it doesn't lead to some kind of custom firmware, shooting themselves in the foot. But I'm really interested in their entry point as well.

Thats true, im really excited about them revealing how the exploit actually works and if its user friendly like the previous one was.

I can't even see the hand shifting at all, and even if you did see it move a little, it proves nothing, since the ZR button is out of sight.
i think its more to do with the pact that its perfectly plausible that they hit ZR, people where originally assuming that mii maker MUST be involved as it jumps to mii maker, and people just pointed out that on the new3ds it is possible to jump left or right on the home screen by hitting ZL and ZR......yeah maybe it is some part of the exploit, but it would seem more likely that they just accidentally hit the button
