you mean cool for people who don't have a big microsd card, cia files are installed on the big sdcard. not the small one that goes in the gateway card..........................sudeki300

all the installed cia files just show on the main screen just like other installed app / games.

This may be a dumb question but... What is the benefit of using cia files instead of 3ds files with the gateway?

The advantage is there's no risk of accidentally popping your cart out and losing progress.

I still use the cart, because I'm too lazy to decrypt and convert stuff to cia. Much easier just to throw the .3ds on microsd.

Me too, the only games I'll have as a .cia are ones that come with DLC, and even then I'll just take the DLC .cia and play it off my .3ds rom in the multirom menu.

The main benefit seems to be save file editing, but I'm not sure how the checksums work.

same, i dont have any issues with .3ds, so why fix whats not broken

The main advantage is that you can have 2 SD cards full of games simultaneously.

Do all games have checksums that need to be fixed, or just ones like Pokemon? Do you have any more info/links to where I can read about it?

I have no idea yet. i've only converted the game into cia, I'll get back to u on that later

I think something broke.
I would restore from an emunand backup or format emunand again.

well weird actually it loads the friends list but when i exit out it freezes the 3ds on the "home menu" text....maybe there's a bug there or something

Guys , sorry if this has already been answered , and I don't have any real understanding of how all this works , but I just had to ask , if we use this to install a .cia , then make a system transfer to a ofw 3ds , then copy the files from one sd card to the other , would they work on the ofw 3ds?
