We know as much a you do atm...we can only assume it's CARD2 like X and Y until a release is in the wild or someone gets a cart in their hands to dump and look at.

I just tried it and it worked. It was just that you can't use a UK card on a US system, so I wasn't sure

Just a note on using a US Debit Card on a Japanese 3DS. You MAY get your funds locked and then you'll have to call your bank. But yes, I use mine on my Japanese 3ds.
