Sure. I mean, if a soldier steps on a mine, it's totally the soldier's fault - whoever laid down the minefield is exempted from any responsibility.
Thats a bit flawed logic there...
The soldier is the user that gets bricked if you put it like that.

What would be a more sound comparison is that Gateway made the ammunition, R4 fired the gun and the person that got bricked is the person that got hit.
Both Gateway and R4 play a part in getting the person bricked, if Gateway hadn't made the ammunition then R4 would not have it to shoot (or atleast not the same ammunition).

In that case, you would have to assume that the ammunition fired by Gateway guns doesn't kill people and instead gives them hours of Nintendo fun. Your analogy isn't perfect either, it seems. :P Splitting hairs. ;)

Regarding to GW's official news - "support for firmware 9.0~9.2 and new3DS, 2DS...", I've heard sth interesting today: "...they are just planing to release kind of device(of course you gotta pay for it) to downgrade all consoles (including new3DS) from V9.0~V9.2 back to the damn V4.5, so that their clients can still use emuNand, menu...for those higher version games! That's also why they asked their fanboys, who owned GW card and a V4.5 console to stay there, don't upgrade to V9.0~9.2!...."

Sorry to break your dreams (I really hope you don't believe what you wrote, I have a doubt, with the smiley at the end of the message ^^), but each nand seems to have a personal and specific key so flashing a 4.5 nand in another 3DS can't be done. You can't even actually downgrade a 3DS that were on 4.5 once (like the PS3, who just require a system which got the 3.55 installed on it, even if you don't have it anymore) if you don't have a nand dump.

Its not, but its the closest I could come up with on short notice =P

Yes. I heard the same thing to. This device will require you to do ten pushups in the rain while holding the gateway card and a banana firmly in your butt cheeks so that it can initialize and downgrade your 3ds.

That's actually impossible to pull off, simply because those systems wouldn't work. the New3DS uses upgraded hardware and the 2DS has one screen instead of two, so I'm guessing the firmware has to account for that. It's a lot like the PS3's minimum praxis - you can only downgrade to a certain point depending on the model. That, and, well, they'd be the first to successfully downgrade a system without a previously made NAND dump.

I would still choose to believe that. GW asked their V4.5 clients to stay there for no reason at all.

Sky3ds stuff makes no sense.

Even if Gateway had managed to find a way to downgrade any unit to 4.5. Why the fuck would you advertise it that and say it like it's a bad thing?

Oh yeah, our competitor has a way to downgrade you and give you all the features and benefits that come with 4.5.

It's stupid.

We should probably focus on how it's completely impossible to perform rather than how stupid it is. Gateway ain't Jesus, they can't perform miracles. :P We won't see downgrades without the use of previously made NAND dumps before someone figures out how the firmware updater works and how to fool it into installing an old update, and that's entirely within the realm of software.

Oh wow... This is getting better and better.

It seems both sides are starting to feel the heat and are trying to get the crowd on their side.

Lol I honestly doubt it.. since 4.5 doesn't have support for the 2DS and the new 3DS. Also Gateway has repeatedly said that it will use the same card, not a new one which rules out the idea of a hardware revision.

Don't know if it's been brought up but this brings 2 problems: Updating the card (if it's not going to use a launcher) on 9.x and running the GW blue card (if it still uses it) on 9.x .

Or option 3 - get an australian device which will be EU-region. That way you can get english games even if they can't get it region-free.

Option 4 Get a 3ds XL and circlepad pro for it and enjoy most comfortable option for 3ds, though it might not be portable anymore.

lmao, more likely gateway3ds reverse engineered their exploit and they're just adding support for it :)

btw 10 games limit is silly, either bug in their fw, design fault or they were hoping to release new model without it later.

So Sky3DS don't know you can't downgrade because there is a personal key encrypted in the nand? Their trick should be rather easy to do then if they don't even know that.

Or Gateway completely decrypted the whole nand, and so are pretty much like gods of the 3DS.

Either way seems doubtful xD

(And yeah, we are not even sure a 2DS or 3DS could work with a 4.5 firmware even if such a thing was possible :D)
