GW team is the best thing that has happened to the scene. They screwed up with the brick code that affected his own customers (I don't give a damn the clone's bricks), But they have given in general an excellent support to his clients
imitation is the best form of saying "we weren't good enough"
Ironic that Sky3DS managed to function on 4.5+ firmwares and now GateWay suddenly claims they have reached a "milestone"

Look like there is certainly no "honor among thieves" in the DS piracy market. That's for sure.
Aaaaand that's still not one bit better.
They "sound" just fine in English, they might not be 100% accurate though.
If you want a more accurate analogy, I'd have to use Benz - after all, he did invent the flat internal combustion engine. Now, let's say that Benz designed it in such a way that those engines would explode if they were not in a Benz car... except they wouldn't explode immediately, rather in a few decades. You would have a whole lot of exploding cars right now, and frankly, that would be Benz' fault.![]()

Happy to improve on my analogies just for you, Kenny - normally I don't put a lot of work into what I write at 4:30 AM.Yeap. Doesn't make it any better but at least it's more accurate.
Completely irrelevant, but fair enough, I don't want to split hairs. In my book, both parties are responsible. You don't sell cereal with rat poison in it on the off chance that rats might eat some of your stock. All forgetting one thing though, r4i etc was 100% original work. R4i team told us so, and a flashcart team wouldn't just lie![]()

Precisely. And with that in mind, I'm not absolving any party involved. Gateway is responsible because they invented the code in the first place, the cloners are responsible because they didn't test the launcher properly and the customer is responsible because he/she shoved the equivalent of a soggy toast (in licensing terms) into his/her 3DS for the sake of running (more than likely) illegal software.Depend if the cars were legal or not. If they weren't, it would be the fault of the three parts, the original creator, the cloner, and the customer, if he know he was buying a car that isn't approved for use.

About the gateway brick, it's also the fault of the three parts. Gateway team, who put a code brick, and affected some of their geniune customers, the cloner because he copied it badly, if not he should have noticed the brick code, and also the fault of the customer, who bought such a device knowing it could screw it's 3DS (Nintendo give enough warning to not use them so no one can say "I didn't know it was an illegal device and it bricked my 3DS", when it's a device used to pirate games").

As it was said earlier, no honour among thieves.Honestly, I didn't expect a reply to that. It was more a a dig at the whole clone supporters at the time claiming "not clone, original work", right up until the brick code, then happily admitting clone, just to blame Gateway.

Nope, the code to update the FPGA is contained inside of the launcher.datno to update GW fw you just update the launcher on the 3ds SD , but to do a FPGA update of the red GW card ,like we had to do when the multirom feature was added you need to update the card through the ds mode GW menu
but we dont even know if this new 9.x thing will even require an FPGA update yet

I suppose they figured it wasn't self-explanatory enough and wanted to spare the tech support complaints about systems suddenly displaying in grayscale or at a wrong aspect ratio. It was a genuine technological concern... one that doesn't exist anymore in the HD era and one that never existed on handheld systems anyways.I always felt the whole PAL/NTSC thing was just another excuse, because they didn't want to say "we don't want money from X region, going to Y region".
It's not like you could just buy imports off the shelf back then, you had to go out of you way to get them. Anyone buying them would know what equipment they need to display them properly.
Easy.
They will release the new update between now and 2050
As usual
And yes "blue card" is blocked, it is "just" a basic R4 clone.
Heard it was blocked from 6.x or 7.x now...

That's actually impossible to pull off, simply because those systems wouldn't work. the New3DS uses upgraded hardware and the 2DS has one screen instead of two, so I'm guessing the firmware has to account for that. It's a lot like the PS3's minimum praxis - you can only downgrade to a certain point depending on the model. That, and, well, they'd be the first to successfully downgrade a system without a previously made NAND dump.Regarding to GW's official news - "support for firmware 9.0~9.2 and new3DS, 2DS...", I've heard sth interesting today: "...they are just planing to release kind of device(of course you gotta pay for it) to downgrade all consoles (including new3DS) from V9.0~V9.2 back to the damn V4.5, so that their clients can still use emuNand, menu...for those higher version games! That's also why they asked their fanboys, who owned GW card and a V4.5 console to stay there, don't upgrade to V9.0~9.2!...."![]()
