I'm just reading a bit about headers, 3DZ etc. and wondering, what can (and what do) Nintendo ban? Is it the cartridges, the roms, the 3DS system itself and when banned what happens?

They "ban" with system updates. Works pretty well so they don't do anything else.

I'm not following. You're just saying that a newer firmware will prevent users of older firmware from playing a new title. My understanding was that they could ban individuals and not just 'everyone who didn't update'

We have no idea what they can ban or if they can even detect it, since nobody has been banned for it yet.

Ninty hasn't banned or shown any indication that they're capable of banned any one as of now.
However, the new firmware update could prove troublesome for flashcard users since it prevents them from accessing a lot of the newer contents.
That being said, it is not the same as ninty actually actively banning consoles/carts/etc...

Oh okay, see the overwhelming vibe I got from all the reading I've done is that using a scene rom with a patched header online would be 'dangerous' but as long as it works then there's no danger I can see.

It could be "dangerous", but we have absolutely no idea if it is. It's just people being cautious and paranoid.

The safest thing. Dont play online. Less safe dump your own header. Most dangerous use a scene header that a thousand or more other people are using.

Once again like everyone has said. We dont even know if they can detect what header is being used when and where. I highly doubt ninty has it set up where all know headers and cart ids are stored in some ginormous comupters that red flag whenever two people use the same header. They could but with how many people play these games every day and how many systems there are I REALLY REALLY doubt that nintendo has the manpower, the ability or the drive to keep track.

I mean think about it. Sony and Microsuck(someone give me a good nickname for sony) dont ever actually catch anyone cheating. Another player reports it and sony or microsoft and the game developer check the logs for unusual activity in the code and bam thats how they get caught. Or some dumb ass plays a game thats not out yet online. The point is. Sony and Microsoft... their online is way more organized and have waaaaayyyyyyy more online players than nintendo and have been at this since ps2 and original xbox days and it takes them weeks if not months in some cases to figure out you were cheating. Nintendo only started doing multiplayer for ds (wasnt the gamecube online compatible but only a few games had this capability and there werent many adapters released?)

sony banned me on HSG:WI for using a points cheat on PS3 but those were leaderboard points also. i did not know that. but what's worse is they fucking banned my vita version of the game has well. so Sony you can take that Bony up you ask and shove it.

You're honestly lucky they didn't PSN ban you entirely, but that's getting a little off topic.

i think they banned the mac address.....but it was one of the most ineffective bans, pretty sure people could just bypass it......iirc there was something about online for brawl needing a nintendo network account, so any bans will most likely be happening to the nnid not the console, so any cheats wanting to piss people off will just make a bunch of nintendo network accounts

bt still i dont see what all the point of these "BANNN THE CHEATSSSSS" post are about....there currently isn't any cheats except save hacks anyway......which never really lead to any amazing advantages as long as nintendo have set it up properly like how they blacklist pokemon with any unobtainable stats etc

MKWii online.
MKDS online.

Think I've said enough.

For the 3DS, there are, at time of writing, 0 cheats indeed.
However, as soon as a cheat engine has been developed, Ninty online (whatever it might be) will be plagued by it like the DS and Wii have.

Cheating doesn't belong in multiplayer as it severely ruins the game for others.
Either cheat offline, or be a real gamer and don't cheat at all.
That's me opinion about it and I think I share that with a lot of other people.

I think cheating in a game is fine. After you beat it the first time. Except for multiplayer..... then its bad. I remember mario kart DS.

they ban the flashcart
thats all
Wow.... this guy. They cant ban a flashcart. You obviously have no understanding of what your talking about so just dont say stupid crap like this. They cant even tell if your using a flashcart. I say the with 99 percent certainty. If they could tell and they could ban a flashcart everyone using gateway would be banned already. Jesus christ dude. Right now the only thing they can do to combat flashcarts is new firmware update. Thats the one thing we know for sure. Oh..... besides the fact YOU CANT BAN A FREAKING FLASHCART.

well they can ban but you can spoof some parts the only part you can't as far as I know is the card ID on the 3DS card but there are so many dumps out there with card IDs included you should not worry about that.
