they need to atch the game somehow, how can i have star power hit a player twice but they still recover to be up with me then overtake me when ive bashed into them twice. i dont get it?

As much as I hate the Blue Shell, if I fall off the track while the Blue Shell is going to hit then I can recover instantly and continue racing. It's the next best thing to the Super Horn, imo.

Bought this game yesterday, completed the 50cc cup (ended first on all races except the last two cups with the new tracks) in about ~5 hours. First character to unlock was Rosalina, which is one I wanted to play the most. Played with Luigi too, because of the 'death stare'. Really enjoyed the game. It looks amazing, details are amazing and the gameplay is amazing too. Really like the tracks, music is pretty awesome too.

Does anyone know if there is a Mirror Mode? That always rustles my jimmies. And does anyone have any tips for good karts/motors? Currently I use the Mach 8/Jet Bike, Metal wheels and the parachute. I know it's'a matter of what you're preferences are, but I've been wondering if I should change the parachute back to the standard one, since it flies faster.

Regarding the free game, I already had TLOZ:WWHD, NSMBU, Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate and Nintendo Land. Was thinking about getting either Sonic Lost World, Pikmin 3 or The Wonderful 101. In the end I got The Wonderful 101, since the multiplayer seemed pretty chaotic, which always is a good thing.

Earn a Gold Trophy for every Cup in the 150cc difficulty to unlock Mirror Mode.

Which is basically 1st place in every cup right? That's easy. Another (probably simple) question, if I play multiplayer offline, do the coins that others collect also count toward the coin total? That would make unlocking parts so much faster.

you don't have to get 1st in every single race but you need to have the most points at the end of the 4th race to get gold. yes coins coint towards your total with other players. if you have 4 people racing you can get a total of 40 coins per race. you cannot however get more than 10 coins collecting coins after you have 10 does not go towards unlocking stuff. SO 10 coins max per player per race if you and your friends manage to have 10 coins each after finsihg the race on all 4 races you can get a total of 160 coins in 1 cup!

Figured as such. One last question though :p If I play offline multiplayer and the other person would get the most points, that would still count right? Can't wait to play again after work today, since a friend of mine is coming, and my little sister probably also wants to play.

Time to add a lot of people who have Mario Kart 8 for online play

yes if any of you get the most points that counts as a gold. also you only have to get gold in 150cc doing the same in 50 and 100cc gets you nothing. also you have to finish the race if you quit the coins won't get added to your tally

Today was my day off and I played MK8 but after so many hours of it I'm beginning to feel burnt off of it and been thinking of purchasing Wind Waker HD though I'll need to give it more thought.

By the way, the Ending Credits video in MK8 looks like shit as if they took a compressed 360p pixelated video and added to an HD game.

that's the problem with this it's fun for a while than you just get so damn good at it than it stops being fun :P

Yeah, and it doesn't help that while there's the Battle Mode, it's just another racing mode.

I'll try to give it a shot again on Sunday on Dynamic Cup and see how it goes.

Nintendo needs to announce new DLC content for this as well as making some tournaments of it in US/UK than just playing online for in-game coins, 'cause it'd be a lot more enjoyable be playing face to face against others for an also bigger prize.

^ One of the craziest rounds i have played online. I got hit like 20 times not even kidding, there was a master cluster of hits on the gravity part but i thought i share it here for the finish i got lol boosting to pip 4th. Im gonna attempt to video/film the whole run on my main camara (since you cant upload the full vid) and post that later but for now, here are the highlights xD

Thanks Mario Kart 8 for the countless hours and for £16 you were well worth it but now I'm going to switch to Rayman Legends (should arrive within Tues-Wed).

Sure I'll get back to MK8 but only if Nintendo decides to release new content for it.

Mario Kart 8 sold about 1 to 2 million copies but after a short time the hype has died and no one even cares about it, for those that still play it online. Good on them for not yet have gotten tired of the same tracks & vehicles.

My online experience has been a mixed bag. Lag destroys most of the enjoyment of the online races, as people are never quite where they look like they are on your screen. It's not a constant thing, but it does seem to happen when you're needing it to. Aim is impossible, so online strategy revolves around laying traps rather than throwing bombs. Doesn't change too much for most people, but it is frustrating to finish in "1st", then have it change to "3rd" when the result board pops up.

Offline is amazing though. Loads of fun, difficulty is nice, and each cart and character have a different feel to them. I use to be a light character racer before, but have found mid-light are much better for me in this iteration.
