Anyone have any idea how to implement this? It looks like python code that needs to be compiled to me. Also how would we get this on the console itself. Can it be placed on the sd card to cause the crash when we open the web browser or do we need to set up a mini webserver to get this going?

There are html files in the archives, so I guess we'll need a webserver. Haven't looked in much.

Can I ask something?

Why don't they enable NX on the browser? I don't see any reason not to.
And is the browser sandboxed? Like on the 3DS?

Go watch F0F's talk from 30C3, it'll explain it better then anyone ever could.

The scripts are for compiling the code into an html file to be run locally. If you don't understand what they're doing then you have no use of this anyways :P

Alright so I blocked these in my router:

69.25.139.188
209.18.46.162
nus.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net

Am I good to go?

Theoretically but still be prepared to rip the power cord out when you turn it on.... or just force it off, but you have to catch it while it's "preparing to update." And thats if it even comes up. If it does and it starts the actual update process, its too late, just let it run, or you could brick your Wii U

I'm familiar with programming. I can actually write firmware in assembly language lol. I can also build webpages using html (but who can't these days?) lol.

Care to enlighten me? or at least humor me?

build33.sh builds it. Work from there. You'll obviously need to host it, but you can just do that from your PC to the wii u.

So do i just change the file to exe or bat or something so I can actually execute it, or will I need to not be lazy and download a python compiler lmao

Partners hate the Wii U already, and you didnt get monster hunter because the japanese hate you.

This is true, esp. the Capcom bit.

wiikey are not a shady company. they were the 1st to hack the wii and started the whole wii scene off which in turn bought forth homebrew. it all started with the wiikey

That's true, they did in fact made a breakthrough in that regard, with that said, I hope there are both solutions to those who want softmods and those who want dongles ;)

He didn't, he just would rather have people get gypped by shady companies than by reputable programmers. $100? Screw that, they don't deserve money.

Basically you run the scripts using cygwin which'll compile a specified C file in src to be compiled and moved into XAMPP's htdocs.

EDIT: You also need frame.html in htdocs in the same place.

Thanks for your help but I can't seem to get this to compile for the life of me. Been fooling around with cygwin and i also got desperate and tried to run the shellscript on my virtual machine (linux mint) but to no avail. It seems to hate me lol. Perhaps I'll have to wait for someone else to compile it lmao

...stop being so f***ing paranoid and impatient.
while i'm a huge fan of the wiiu and the various and sundry ways its being dissected, its really your complete lack of self-awareness and ability to live in the moment, the literal moment, that keeps me coming back here.

I'm rather surprised you're calling it quits since

If this is the case, compiling this exploit should be a walk in the park.

I'm not saying I could myself, I'm still learning this kind of stuff, but it'd eventually be something I'd like to do and be able to do.

I don't want to add fuel to the fire.

I've skimmed a few pages of the thread to see what's going on. Isn't the point of update 5.0.0 to enable auto-updates? So saying "stay on 5" doesn't really mean anything when everybody is bumped up to 5.1 without consent. Turning off automatic software downloads only stops games and apps from downloading in the background and disabling standby features will only postpone the update initiation until you connect to the Nintendo Network.

I use software that rebounds my network so I can toggle the connection to my console. Though incredibly moronic, I'm not as concerned of the implications of this leak. I'm just trying to figure out if this isn't something widely known or if I'm missing something here.

Auto updates only happen if you disable standby mode and auto updates in the Wii U settings. They're not actually forced when the console is off.

I apologize if I come off as rude. Do you mean unless both of those options are disabled? I can't imagine the system only auto-updating when it is explicitly told not to. When the console is off it will remain inactive, but when it is moved to standby it will install downloaded updates while powered down as of firmware 5.0.0.

So by disabling standby mode via settings, we will get the update prompt when booting the console like the past firmwares? I'm aware it disables the quick boot menu but I'm unsure of it's relation to the auto-installation of updates.
