Hello

I went and softmodded my vWii last night using Truth's tutorial here and everything went fine (albeit the backing up of the nand taking 6 hours).
Anyway, I can load WiiFlow, CFG USB Loader and USB Loader GX however i am having problems loading any games.

I am currently trying to run the games off a 64GB USB3 memory stick while i wait for my HDD to come through the post. The memory stick is formatted as WBFS and i have put 5 games on there (Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, SMG, SMG2, Kirbys Epic Yarn)

CFG USB Loader will show the games but will refuse to load any of them. I click on load and the wii mote turns off, the Wii U stops responding (not even holding down the power button turns it off) and this is what i get:

I have tried IOS 250 and 251 with the exact same results.

WiiFlow and USB Loader GX both fail to even see the memory stick

Try IOS248 as well, mine is running on that one.
I think the trick is, what D2X verson and what IOS base are you using in that slot?

Shuttleu there was a suggestion I read in another thread to try reinstalling your cIOS as sometimes the first try just wasn't working

also, for future reference (probably not related to this problem, though) FAT32 is probably more compatible than WBFS. If you decide to convert it, wbfs2fat.py can make the change quickly without even having to back up the games. It converts them in place.

Could be, though D2X is more than likely the v10 vWii beta. Shuttle, can you give some more information about the base and such?

Sorry for not replying. I have d2x-v10-beta53-alt-vWii base 56.

On a plus note though, I got the HDD today and it seems to be working perfectly fine, so the issue was with the memory stick.

I'm now using ustealth so I dont get the annoying message on the Wii U screen

here are a few tips use only the vwii editions of d2x, d2x is the only cios that supports with vwii I believe I don't know what would happen if you use a non vwii cios like 236 or using trucha bug restorer I do not own a WiiU just a original white Wii.
If you are using a wbfs formatted drive (still) I read in your OP that you were, format it with cfg usbloader mod use neogamma to load your games it's a basic loader with a simple gui to use.

If none of this works format the flash drive using this tool http://www.easeus.com/partition-manager/
and format it too fat32 with a 32kb cluster size then try again.
I used to use WBFS formatted drives when I first softmodded my wii and I had some issues with it not loading certain games.
Download this tool to manage your .wbfs and .wbf1 files on your fat32 device it's really straight forward http://www.wiibackupmanager.co.uk/

after downloading and extracting the wbm tool you'll be presented with 2 executables for windows I find the 64-bit exe has issues so if it gives you problems run the 32-bit exe in administrator mode, admin mode also allows it to boot faster I find and gives it direct access to your imapi2 service which is for detecting drives in windows you have 2 options convert your iso files to wbfs files for or use iso files I suggest going the wbfs path wbfs files are the wii iso with the garbage blank data to fill out the iso taken out it's like using a truncated iso but with a format that is split-able and readable by backup loaders.

Take New Super Mario Bros. Wii it's actually only 358MB game when you use a wbfs file format but as an iso it has a 4.7 GB of data thats 4454.8 MB of blank data used as filler so really do you still want to use iso on that wbfs formatted drive, my thoughts after you reading this will be no, I didn't want to use iso or truncated iso on a wbfs formated partition after I found out this information I have roughly about 300GB of wbfs files and 146 wii games just imagine what my space taken would amount to if I did still use iso's I would imagine that my 1tb hard drive would be pretty much filled up with that and it would be mostly garbage blank data.

also when installing cios 249 and 250, use 249 with a base of 56 and 250 with a base of 57 change the revision numbers for 249 to 105356 and 250 as revision 105357 so when you look at a report from syscheck GX you'll know what cios and version you have currently installed the revision numbers don't matter which is why we can use them to tell what version of cios we have installed with a syscheck software the format is pretty simple we start by declaring the d2x version we are installing which at this point would be 10 then we give the beta number for the version which in your case is 53 then we give the base ios number that was used for the cios so we have for cios 249 Revision 105356 if we used d2x v10 beta 53 with ios base 56

Google for syscheck GX HDE it's syscheck GX edited by JoostinOnline from here on GBATemp and from HacksDen he edited it to work on the wii and the vwii he also has a few other tools he wrote specifically for the vWii

In terms of the drive I got, 1TB Touro Mobile MX3 by HSGT.

Although i have fixed my problem, i did read through your posts and while most of it wont make any difference i did find one error in what you were saying.
When using a WBFS partition, "WBFS Manager" strips the junk out of a ISO. So with NSMB, it would only take up 358MB on a WBFS drive, not 4.7GB

WBFS Manager is known to cause issues when there are X amount of games on a drive I started having problems around 20, well regardless of the fact the wbfs filesystem is an outdated one and it is recommended to use either ntfs/ext/fat32 also formatting your drive to fat32 with a 32 KB cluster size will set you up for using Uneek2o+DI which is nand emulation on a usb device

wbfs is outdated your better to use fat32 or ntfs and use wiibackup manager. hardly anyone uses wbfs these days and this is WHY

My point exact WBFS filesystem and WBFS manager are both really depreciated and there is too many things to complain about when it comes to those 2

Ok, I didn't realise that fat32 was more reliable than WBFS. So do I store the games as a .wbfs file on the root of the drive, or in a specific folder?

WiiBackupManager has a lot of great features besides managing your games it's also a game database that will allow you to download covers and you can set it up so it saves it for your usb loader that you use
