Yeah, but make sure you've followed the steps to setting up and running Emunand before doing this, don't just enter Gateway mode without setting up Emunand and try updating, you'll update your console.

I hope you're not planning on using 2.0B2, because the outcome of using that is potentially much worse than accidentally updating your system. If you plan on only playing newer games, and you don't care about the EShop and such, don't even worry about setting up Emunand and just run 2.0B1 without holding L. Sure it may crash occasionally when booting into Gateway mode, but it's better than having a paper weight.

I thought booting into GW Mode was the emunand. Isn't it?
I mean if I'm on my 4.2, open the GW menu and then select GW mode, not Classic mode, it's in emunand. Right?
This is a little confusing :/
I mean it does say GW7.1 something if I open the settings menu. Albeit if I press X to exit it puts me in 4.2 again, so I have to boot it into GW mode again.
Also, isn't Classic mode also emunand, since it's not on the physical NAND...?
Either way, once I got the kit I'm pretty sure I set it up correct and had the emunand updated to 7.1. Since I still can go into 4.2.

Now, the real scary part for me as info feels like it's contradicting...
I am currently using 2.0b2.
I have used it with Fire Emblem and dl'd stuff from the EShop and gone into the EShop itself and dl'd some apps like PokeBank, YouTube and two demos.
1: Should I format the SDcard, delete the downloaded stuff or just let it be?
2: Once I've done that, I dl the 2.0b1 and prep my cards for that, do I install that over the 2.0b2 or do I have to do anything with the console to allow me to install 2.0b1?
3: Done? Just don't use the EShop until 2.0 Final is released?

Sorry to be a penny pincher here.. Where is the cheapest, yet reliable place to order an r4i Gold 3DS (DS mode cart) from? Shipping time is of lower priority but I still like something fast. Thanks..

Correct, It is in emuNAND mode for both, if you update on Gateway mode, classic mode will be updated as well. Update in Gateway mode not classic mode.

That is up to you there is always a risk when using any beta image, this particular one seems to be worse due to brick code. I have been running on 2.02b on a 3DS and XL for a couple weeks now without any issues. I've used e-shop to get games and keep them up to date.

You'll have to use 2.0b1 and re-install emuNAND.

3: Done? Just don't use the EShop until 2.0 Final is released?

That's solely up to you. If you don't like any risk, though inherently any system has failures, stick to 2.01b as there is no brick code from what I have read. If you need e-shop then go for 2.02B just make backups and know how to unbrick should that possibility every arise. If you are going to take chances just have a fall back plan

I don't think it's that they're lying; it's that they probably have lives outside of programming and hacking. They probably at the time of such statements believe they'll follow through but things come up. I agree that I don't think they should post things like that unless they're sure they'll meet their own set deadlines, but some of you are acting like entitled little bratty kids.

Being nasty and accusing them of flat out lying is pretty disrespectful to the developers who put in lots of hours and effort.

They're a company, with money incentive. Doing the dishes is nothing in comparison to that.

All your "Debunked" facts were from emails (probably written by someone who only works in sales answering emails with estimated times), people who "heard it from maxconsole" like that means anything, or pure speculation. Not one of those promises were on the gateway homepage except for the newest one about beta testers. You know what is also on the homepage?

As you might have noticed, our milestones have been slipping a bit lately. The original release date for 2.0 was planned early january, but certain events have thrown a wrench into our schedule.

The second public beta was released December 23rd, 2013 to accomidate for the 7.1.0-14 update. Between then and now they have been responding to countless emails, developing new features from scratch (proof of Nand saving & a better Multirom shows they aren't sitting on their ass), handling the bricking fiasco (which obviously set them back at least a month doing damage control), 2 chinese holiday's, oh and most importantly living their lives (you know that thing people do when they don't work or sleep 24/7?) Im not saying they are innocent but cut them some slack. Everything they are doing is new territory. Not everything is going to be on schedule.

The fact that they are handing out full betas of the Final 2.0 software a mere months after the last beta is awesome! This are guys that have worked on the edge of 3DS hacking as far as I have been able to follow, so given the limitations they have had to work with and the timeframe they have had this is nothing short of amazing.
Yes, I would like the final 2.0 for be out asap.
But also, I would like it to work and not be like most Bethesda software. Less bugs are more fun for all

Yeah, Before the Region Free is just a Dream.. But now we can already play other regions games.. I really supported the Gateway from start...
and i didnt regret it unlike that other fake 3ds flashcart.. i forgot the name but who cares...

finally i have had my MT card...now i can play multirom....about Gateway (u can see my pics) i think that will never be out FW 2.0! and so....i have buy a new card....

We have Gateway, R4i Gold Deluxe, 3DS Link, Orange-3DS and MT-Card. But R4i, Link and orange are direct clones from GW. MT-Card is based on the GW 2.0B2 launcher and has it's own features (mainly Multi-ROM and real time save).

MT Card is the newest card, and the only one that seems to be getting support at the moment. About a week or so ago they released an update that makes their firmware do everything the Gateway and Clones do, but it also has Multi ROM. Currently, if you're buying a new flashcard, it seems like the best choice.

MT-Card is based on the GW 2.0B2 launcher and has it's own features (mainly Multi-ROM and real time save).

Where'd you hear that at?
